hI Pegasus! Whereabout in Britanny ? I know some great atlantic wall bunkers on the south coast+ the Lorient U-Boot base, but the north coast is full of defenses too.

Hi Skipper, I have spoken to my friend Pegasus today, unfortunately he doesn't have internet access whilst in France, so he has asked me to act as 'go between'.
He tells me that he is staying in a small village to the east of Brest called Guerlesquin.

Any places you may suggest he can visit would be appreciated .

Yesterday a new trip to the Hurtgen Forest with Spideyman.
Not so many findings but a great day!

Buttons i found for the first time, has anyone an idea what they are and how they where used?:

A coin dated 1941:

NOTE: all the live ammo is placed back in the ground and are left at the spot where they where found!

Interesting finds. is that a beaver dam? The coffee bag looks nice too. The french coin is a zinc occupation coin from northern France (the later Vichy coins were similar but had an axe instead of the Marianne)

Now problem, these were the cheap zinc coins issued during the war becasue pewter and copper was reserved in priority for the Germans

Yes you are supposed to apply for a permit . You can't just walk into a private property and start messing up people's land. It's all depends whether you want to dig and use a detector or if you just want to get a few souvenirs. In this case a permission from the owner would be "ok". You can also go to the middle of nowhere and not ask, but that's your business and I won't encourage people to do that, but to tell the truth who hasn't dug a bit here and there in a field just in case a piece of metal shows up. I suppose authorities know how to make the difference about a tourist who finds something harmless for a collection and someone dangerous who plays with amno. Whatever happens do NEVER EVER take amno with you. It's illegal and dangerous and really not worth it.

And again some interesting finds from the Hurtgen Forest.
Like a U.S. helmet in bad shape, German 37mm shell, U.S. pocket knife, U.S. art.labels, part of an Hitler Jugend knife, German drink cup etc.

All the live ammo went back in the ground!
