Hurtgenforrest 31/05/2008 Pio pickup
Yesterday I went back to pick up de Pio I left there in the woods. A trip friday was canceld Also my search buddy's trip was a problem not enough cars !! So that's why I decieded to go back for the Pio.
After the pich up I went deeper into the woods and saw a lot of Foxhole's
Lot's of ammo, not special there.
I saw that the road had a junction and thought this must be a nice place for an ambusch
And yes an German post.
Between the leafs a German belt k98, also some buckle's with some green paint on it. Also a button and a tube with ?
Search for 3 hours, was already super for me.
I had put some Azaron (to scare mosquito's away) jeeesss they eat you alive there.
Next trip with my search buddy Aru Ed.....
Sorry for the foto's they made with my GSM

The tube could be toothpaste or shaving cream (the handle is from a razor) . Nice belt considering it was buried. It seems like you found a former foxhole.

Hey Skipper,
the so called "handle from a razor" is actually an fuse from inside a German steelgranate, its still very dangerous!
And its not an K98 belt but what's left from a K98 pouch, in a nice shape i must say!
Sorry for the correction!

No problem, my mistake , it really looks like a razor handle though, I was mistaken by the fact that you could screw something on top of the handle like a razor.

Here is the little thing from the other end - which you can't find with a metal-detector....

Very nice findings again!
This area look familiars to me... but I think it´s hard to make a distinction between the locations in the forest...

Well Chris, in the Hürtgen Forest there are almost 2.5000.000 to 4.000.000 explosives left. That´s what I´ve read anywhere (I really don´t know wehre it was - but if I find the passage in my books or anywhere I´ll let you know!).
I just can tell you that I stayed in the forest near Merode - there was a small grenade lying near the forest-away and some artillery some steps deeper into the forest. I´ve also found 4 grenades stuck in the ground just a few cm deep!
Be careful if you walk through the forest of Hürtgen!

Alright, I´ve found where I´ve read about the explosives! It was on a great german site about the fights in WW2 and the surroundigs where was fought!
Maybe you try out this site...
faehrtensucher - Startseite
If you watch at "Spurensuche Hürtgenwald" they say:
"Up to now the bones of the fallen soldiers are recovered out of former battlefields. Also the Kampfmittelräumdienst [I don´t know what it is in english...] has a lot of work to be done until the Hürtgen Forest is cleaned: over 2,3 million landmines and more than 4 million other explosives are supposed in the areas of Hürtgen, Schmidt, Monschau an Kall."
