memorializing my uncle Richard Dugas

No, I am not old enough to have known my uncle Richard. He died at 19 which is a lot younger than I am. Through this forum, I would like to get to know what he might have experienced as well as a hope that someone possibly knew my uncle. If you have any pics, I would love them. Contact me at earthladyj@aol.com. I know that my grandmother and mother had nothing but praise for him. He worked to support the family during the depression after his father abandoned the family, leaving them poverty stricken during the depression. His plane The Deacon's Disciple 2 was on their 7th mission May 14th 1945 to Nagoya. They never made it there. The B-29 airplane overheated and ditched into the ocean. Everyone on board was MIA except one man who was picked up near Iwo Jima. The plane was never found. My grandmother and mother grieved till the day they died. I thank every veteren here in this forum for making it possible for me to be free in the US. You are all heroes to me. God bless you all for your bravery!! Maybe since Richard looks so much like my son, I named my son Richard and I love them both. It is very eerie that they both look so much alike. I wish with all my heart that I knew my uncle. All I have are a couple of pictures and his letters to my mother and grandmother full of love for them. My uncle was the one standing all the way on the right. He was in the 40th Bombing Group.
