Re: Death Cards
Danke schön Domherr! I noticed most of the fallen there have the same names. They are probably cousins or even bothers.

Re: Anyone speak/read German?
The text under the photo says something like.
Quote:
Eternal father,
we offer you on the wounds and of the blood your son of our man,
to convert the sinner,
to comfort of the sick and the dying,
for the needs of the church and for our soldiers.
My Jesus compassion

I've got a headache now, hope someone can do the rest.

Re: Anyone speak/read German?
the right side page:
Remember in your prayers and with faith (or religiously remember) the brave warrior Gefreiter alfons Reger from Weiding who met his heroic fate on January 10th 1944, at the age of 21, while fighting on the Ostfront
Then there is a poem (I summerize) which tells about the sorrows of the loss of a loved one. It says their tears will be warmer the day the bell of peace will be heard at last. The victors will then be merry and return home. The last sentence is taken from AVE MARIA (be my saviour)

Re: Anyone speak/read German?
No problem, I didn't translate the poem , they are often the same and there are dozens in the deathcard threat already (and more than a lifetime in my collection), but I like the general idea of this one which was very daring for the time. It clearly mentions that this familly wishes nothing but peace and that the soldiers go home. Many thought so , not so many dared to print it!

Re: Death Cards
Anyone has a deathcard of "Adam Weinberger" ? He's MIA but normally you get a card also.
Don't got one, I only collect those from Stalingrad (divisions).

Re: Death Cards
this is probably NOT what you want but type in death card on ebay.de
and check the German site death-cards.com and in fact you may want to send him a private mail as he may just come across what you are looking for

Re: Death Cards
Something you may not know about Deathcards. These were a Roman Catholic tradition so most death cards were printed by Catholic families. This explains why there are more death cards from South Germany and Austria than from North Germany. Therefore looking for a deathcard from a specific soldiers is a lotery, maybe there was, maybe none was printed.
