....on ebay.
Finally added a nice 'Roy' Urquhart autograph to my small collection of 'Arnhem' signatures ( Frost, Hackett, Waddy, Deane-Drummond ).
This is a really hard one to find and it was signed on his personal compliment slip two months before he died. Had to pay a little more than I wanted to but I just wasn't going to let this one get away !

I still don't have the capacity to scan anything but try : -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...753469904&rd=1
Yes, spending a little bit too much lately - must try to rein in the expenditure !!
I must say that the 'net is good for finding things like this that are just that bit too hard to find at collectors fairs, airshows, etc.
Anyhow, I'm pleased with this - I missed one four years ago and have been searching ever since.....

I always comfort myself by thinking of all the money I've saved by not taking up cigarette smoking in my teens. And then there's always the 'It's a better investment than Enron/Marconi/Boo.com shares....' thought !

Thanks for the link my friend--47 Pounds is what about? $71.00? Not too shabby of a deal considering that General Officer Signatures often go wayyyyyy higher that that.
When I get better off financially--I plan on buying soem German Generals and Royalties signatures from Huesken. You cna get good ones from starting around $100.00 on up--depending who he was and what century he was in.
Now--I only have a few general Officer signatures myself. I have Adolf Ferdinand Gallands Signature--and W-SS Gen--Otto Kumms Sig--and I have a Bundesmarine Admirals Sig--Erich Topp--former Uboat ace.
I think of all my sigs--I think my favorites (not including Remys--of course) non Remy sigs as my favs are: Erich Alfred Hartmann, Paul-Albert Kausch, Adolf Baum and Martin Drewes--with H.G.Guderian and J.v.Ribbentrops as close runner-ups.
I only have two Ami Sigs--David Lee "Tex" Hill (Former Flying Tiger and retired USAF General)and one from the Enola Gay crew.

I have all sorts of autographs but my first - found by 'accident' - is the perhaps still my favourite.
It's Battle of Britain pilot Richard Hillary, who wrote the classic book 'The Last Enemy'. The signature and dedication is written inside a first-edition, leather-bound presentation copy of the book - the writing is very shaky because his hands were so badly burned. He was killed in a flying accident not long after the book was published.
I found the book in the basement stock of a Charing Cross Road bookshop fifteen years ago - for three pounds
I'll never forget the feeling !

But...without the computer, I wouldn't be able to find all these tempting things !!
So - it looks like the cat would have to go first ! ( Only kidding, puss ! )

Martin-didn't Frost die at Arnhem, or was that his German counterpart that I am thinking of???

I'm happy to say that John Frost survived Arnhem and in fact lived until 1993, writing his memoirs 'A Drop Too Many' and 'Nearly There'.
Most of the 'key players' actually survived the battle - maybe you're thinking of General Kussin, shot at 'Kussin Crossroads', Oosterbeek in his staff car on the first day and seen in just about every book and film-clip of Arnhem ever since ?

I've now put my Urquhart autograph in a small frame with a border of 'airborne' red - and very nice it looks on my desk....
