The only movies I can think of that have them used are Decision Before Dawn and Battle of the Bulge--can anyone think of other movies with my favorite Assault Rifle in them?

I've never seen them in any films at all ( I hate the movie Battle of the Bulge and always avoid it on TV ). I just don't think props departments have large stocks of MP44s - that's if they've even heard of it !
It's not even that easy to find still photos of the weapon in WWII combat use. . . except for the famous 'Poteau sequence' from the Ardennes.

Your right--pics of them in usage are hard to find--same goes for the FG-42 (Fallschirmjagergewehr-42). I agree, Battle of the Bulge is well not so accurate but, it has alot of great actors in it.

The onle scenes with the STG-43/MP-44 were when the Colonel at the beginning goes to a forward bunker (with Major ((Charles Bronson)) and Lt.Col ((Henry Fonda)) sitting in there pondering things and requests Chas to take a combat patrol to get German POWs--which they do and they bring back the usual mauser Rifles and machinepistols, but in addition MP/Stgs which "Still has grease in their barrels and have never been fired"

The other is in Decision Before Dawn. The scenes in which Richard Basehart ((Lieutenant Rennick)) Hans-Christian Bleth (Sp?) ((Wehrmacht Sergeant anjd known as Tiger)) and "Happy" the Luftwaffe Medical Corporal, all get together in bomb-torn Mannheim along the Nekkar River. They make their way to Tigers sisters home where they find his Nephwe (who is in the Hitler Youth) there as they go into the building.

They start discussing pans when the kid (who is spying on them from another room) overhears what is being said--is cought spying and tries to escape. He does briefly but is cought by "Happy" who then is ordered to release the boy by the Lieutenant. The boy runs into the street--gets the attention of a long leather-coated Feldgendarmerie Officer and tells them of the three spies.

The "three spies" escape the ruins--and make their way to the ruins of an Operahaus and hide in various locations. Some of the Gendarmeries are carrying STG-44s as was in another scene with "Happy" trying to escape. He ends up in a concert hall of somekind and barly escapes the German MP-s there who are all carrying STG-44s-MP-43s.

Excellent movie to watch, and a neat thing about the movie is, that all of the German soldiers are wearing the real thing for uniforms and badges. If a pewrson had all those unifoms today--they would be VERY wealthy (providing they sold them)--personally-I couldnt part with any of the uniforms--especially the Panzer uniforms and the Waffen SS uniforms shown in the movie.

Interesting. I've never seen 'Decision Before Dawn' - must watch out for it. And I'll have to overcome my dislike for 'Battle of the Bulge' whhen it comes around again.
Agreed it has good actors but I've always felt parts of it are silly and overdone. If the story of Kampfgruppe Peiper were told 'straight' it would be dramatic enough. . . .

You cant go wrong with Decision Before Dawn. I agree on the cheesieness of BoB, but if you see the longer version--it actually is better. They never show the longer version on TV. I cant wait till they relesase a Directors Cut of it--or a refurbished version of it.
