Last week I had a great experience. Together with a collector friend of mine I went to the militaria city of Germany: Hamburg. This city is only five hours away from my home. We visited three dealers there: Detlev Niemann, Jörgen Kalies and Helmut Weitze.

We managed to visit Detlev one and a half hour before his new update went online. We had al the time to choose from the new items. My friend bought a very nice EKI. I bought a Luftschutz medal and buntmetall EKII spange (see attached picture).

At Kalies we only looked. But at Weitze we spent more that 2 and half hours. I planned to buy an uniform or a cap. Unfortunatley there was no piece that I was looking for. I checked all his offerings and finally bought an IAB in silver (which I needed to put on a uniform) and a SA Treffen Braunschweig. Besides that I also bought 8 copies of IMM, the best militaria magazine IMO.

The next day we visited some flea markets and I was just too late! Someone bought a visor cap for €9,-. Yes you read it correct, €9,-. The officers cord was missing, the eagle was a bit loose and the waffen farbe was for animal doctors or something but I think it was a good cap!

The only thing I bought was a feldpost letter from 1944.

It was a great weekend and Hamburg is a city I will visit more often!!!

Sounds like you really had a great time there.

That blows my mind--a Vet officer peaked visor for 9euro???--I would have jumped on that in less than a heart-beat. Fixing it is no problem at all. A Vet Officers peaked visor--even not very desirable but--still good--and they are quite low in price but for 9euro--that's not only a deat but a steal as well.

Heh heh--if you run into that fellow who bought it--tell him i'll give him triple his money for the hat.

Oh and VERY nice spange my friend! I only have one of those on my Artillerie majors tunic. I'll send you pics of it as soon as I can.
