I recently acquired a German belt buckle with the legend 'Blut und Ehre', in grey/silver metal, with the markings 'RZM' in a circle on the rear, alongside which is M4/28.
This is not normally my sort of thing - any ideas what it is?
I have some ideas myself, knowing exactly where it came from, but would like some views from the experts on this sort of thing on the forum.
I have no intention of selling it, as a veteran gave it to me.

Sounds like a Hitlerjugend buckle to me, that was their motto, if you check for the diamond insignia on the front that should confirm it. Actually, from your description it sounds rather like this buckle:

Hope that is of help.

Thanks - that certainly looks like it.
Could a German Para have been wearing one of these? That's what it probably came from.

Certainly. I have a photo of a Fallschirmjager with a HJ belt-buckle on. Will try to find it... but that may take a while! They also wore army buckles... Just out of interest do you have any info on the para it came from??

If he was ex HJ he may have kept his buckle, soldiers from all over the place used HJ belt buckles as their own got lost, damaged or pinched by 'kameraden' .

Thanks for that chaps; I know exactly where this item came from (the Battlefield of Cassino), but sadly not who it came from.
You have helped confirmed what I thought about it - thanks.
