I've been considering this purchase on and off for a long while and noticed that prices are starting to go up considerably.

So contacted a reputable UK dealer ( not via e-bay ! ) who offered me a small selection ( naturally I chose the cheapest ).

It's a small photo of a 109, signed long-post-war in a clear, legible hand and is a nice addition to my small collection.

Maybe now I'll have to read 'The Blond Knight of Germany' - is this still the only Hartmann biography ?

Nice one, Martin!
I've never got around to collecting anything like that-was more interested in uniforms and equipment when I was younger.
Remember my old man had pictures he took of King George VI and Monty touring Tunis in Monty's staff car..but he was never sure if it was Monty, or his double, Clifton-James!

good find Martin and congrats ! I still do not have a singed E. Hart. in my collection and maybe this is where we ought to show reference, by starting another thread possibly of our acquirements ? At least lets get on the ball and interview those surviving vets air and ground I would say. Writing another German nachtjagd chap next week, in fact two of them........

Martin & Gordon, you should look around for some of the Harrier pilots that shot down planes during the Falklands War and get their autographs. They should be worth something in your old age !
