hmmmmmmmmmm 8.8cm by the fireplace, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

good to see ya back Bob !

yep that panzerschreck must have been a pain to haul around hit the dirt and get ready to fire that thing on any un-suspecting soviet Panzer. My good friend/deceased, Helmuth Reichert a Waffenmeister in Infantrie rgt. 34 in the 1st Inf. Div. said the Pz 54 schreck was just too bulky, yes we could knock anything out with it, but when you were on the run, each man armed with a Panzerfaust 100 could account for enough Soviet armor

oh yeah I see my old wound badge in Silber is back..........thank you that is a good/bad reminder of things almost lost off my hand(s) from the job

Actually...... I might be eligable for it. I have a newly broken left foot as we speak. This is the 2nd time I have broken my left foot in seven years.

Strange thing about this one is, that I do not know exactly when it happened?

Smile Re: Show us your militaria...

Looking back over this thread, there seems to be a slight Germanic influence...

So, to redress the balance a little, we have....

Ever so slightly fraudulent, this one. The M1A1 is absolutely real ( and 1944-dated ), the .45ACP box ditto ( even the date ), but the Colt 1911 is one of those old Japanese metal replicas bought very cheaply ( but with the awful repro grips replaced by genuine ones bought at a militaria fair in the Ardennes... ).

Default Re: Show us your militaria...

I'll give the thread a shift to the east with some of my soviet gear:
Soviet armoured officers Gymnastroika, 1935 pattern (sadly a repro):

Wartime naval officer shoulder boards (pogoni), on the left an original for senior officers and on the right a reproduction of the shoulder board for a junior officer that I produced:

Soviet naval officers tunic for junior officer serving on a submarine:

On the left, original wartime soviet ushanka (fur hat) with synthetic fur (called 'fish fur' by soldiers), it has never had a cap star as it was worn by a POW who also took off one of the ties on the ear flaps and put on a button. On the right is a Bulgarian ushanka.

Tank crew jacket:

There is more, really should photograph the lot one day.

ah no on the book Pzknacker, go to Roger James Bender publishing and pick up a copy off the net. 2000 year printing

the flag represents the Deutsche Arbeitsfront or DAF ~ German work/labor

this is a district flag shown by the city and numeration in the corner. eAch town/city had one as it supplied the Reich with man and woman power under that organization. the cogwheel design was used on flags of all sizes as well as insignia on uniforms

Martin what are the markings on your P-38 ? and to add to his ammo here is a closeup of one of the 9mm ammo containers .....

I know Martin has more WW 2 aircraft material to photo and place on here as well I'd like to get some of the SturmFw pieces placed here though I suppose instead of militaria it would be placed as archaelogy/air

armbands anyone ? from the Luftwaffe : I hate to copy and paste but I do indeed own an armband such as this ........

and then the famous or little known late December 44 instituted flieger ID friend from foe armband worn almost exclusively by day fighter pilots:

this is somewhat of a rarity now and asking big bucks for purchase ..... why ?

Martin, you betcha! Also, I still need a nice set of officers boots and belt, to finish my Majors uniform.

BTW, nice P-38, if you ever want to trade grips? I like the brown bakelite grips better than the black. The grips on mine are brown as well but one is chipped in a corner.

Red face Re: Show us your militaria...

The P-38 is a 'byf 43' so nothing exceptionally rare. At time of purchase, I had the choice of brown or black grips and chose the brown ( vanity, pure vanity... )

Default Re: Show us your militaria...

Heres a couple of pics of just a taste of my collection...

This is the U.S. 91st Engineering Battalion's original 1933 battalion flag...

This battalion was sent to Australia in mid-1942 I believe and, was busy building roads and airfields for the U.S. Army Air Corps. to use in Australia. The U.S. 96th Engineers were dissolved into the 91st which retained its original designation as the U.S. 91st Engineering Battalion. Of all the engineering battalion's in Australia, only eight were colored and with the 96th being dissolved into the 91st this left only seven. This flag belongs to one of only seven colored engineering battalions that were in the PTO.

The 91st went on to do further construction in and around Port Moresby and in the Philippines shortly after the invasion there in 1944.

I found it hanging on a wall by a piece of rope in an antique shop and, I bought it for $55.00...

This is a guidon I saved from a vendor at a flea market here in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia who had it tacked up on a wall...yes, you heard right... it was wrongfully tacked up on a wall.

I was told by the guy I bought it from(who is reputable dealer) that he bought it in Eastman, Georgia U.S.A. from an elderly lady who owned an antique shop in Eastman and her late husband who had served in WWI had brought it home with him.

So, with that being stated it could be as early as WWI or it could just be WWII. It is made of Dark Blue Wool Bunting(one piece) and it has the letters and the numbers embroidered into it, on both sides.

I belonged to a Georgia National Guard unit from Georgia up around Macon area which would confirm the WWI history to this guidon.

The unit:

1st Battalion, Charlie Company
U.S. 121st Infantry Regiment
(WWI): U.S. 31st Infantry Division(Old Dixie Division)
(WWII): U.S. 8th Infantry Division(Golden Arrow Division)

I bought this guidon for $50.00...

I hope you enjoy this small taste of my WWII collection...

Kind Regards,
MARNE

I used to have a BYF-41 (November 41 to be exact) until it was stolen from my flat back on Jan 6/2000. The P-38 I have now is an AC-43.

PS, brown looks better on the P-38. When I see one with black, it reminds me of the cheaper ones produced in the early 60's--though are still nice but; now near as nice as the WWII made pistolen.
