I guess i respect the UK's policy on their attempt to control firearms, but it seems kind of sad to see these pieces of history be deactivated. Living in America a law prohibiting the posession of firearms seems insane. But maybe it isn't. When was the last time that the UK had a campus shooting (Virginia Tech.). Is there anyway they could be "reactivated"? Legally of course.

I only have a question to ask. Can't the politicians realize that all a deactivated weapon is is nothing more than a club?

I for one will never waste money on a deact. As a law-abiding citizen, I am allowed to won and possess working weapons. In Texas, if I geta I think it is a Class 3 licence, I can own machineguns. At one point in my life, I do intend on buying one.

How much could one expect to get ($USD) from an old rotten pack of smokes at auction?
I gave away a pack of French smokes (had picture of a French soldier wearing the well known French helment for that era) along with a German box of matches (had the eagle and swastika on it) that, as I was told by the guy who gave them to me, were parceled out in a Stalag-Luft in Germany.

The tobacco is probably away but the package in decent shape, and not often available. So far I´ve seen two in fiveyears being sold in the local net auction. At the moment the price is 38E€.

BTW, do they sell photo-albums by allied soldiers at Ebay? I have not seen any over here in Finland and I like collecting those photos, have some 20 albums by Finnish and 5 by German soldiers over either peace/war time.

I'm not that computer savvy. Why would you not be able to punch in ebay over there and see what I see? I typed 'ebay ww2 photo album' and found 57 photo albums from both German and U.S. soldiers. The bidding on most of them is around the $200.00 range. I can e-mail the page to you if you like.

It is not always possible for buyers from other countries to see the militaria auctions at Ebay abroad. Ebay denies access to several milataria sections (including allies....) because there is some Nazi related material in those sections. This politically correct "Big Brother" policy really pisses me off because there is no distinction made between radical orientated buyers and historians, collectors or just average people. For instance, I got a link from a friend to buy some Canadian medals the other day, but was not allowed to view the item by ebay. the message said: "according to regulations in your country , the contents of this auction may content hatred related material"
Yeah right.... I call it censorship and discrimination regarding my research.. The funniest is that if I want German material, I can find it in Germany without this message.... So I can buy and E.K. but not a Victoria Cross... Funny world, isn't it? I also wonder if France is the only one who has this stupid regulation or if it's spread through Europe?

it is just as well Skipper that you cannot get on ebay for militaria. It's not worth your time anyway, there are much more reputable dealers on the net.
Ebay is known for a huge amount of fakes.

personally I'll wait for an interesting pic or two and maybe a book if I shop there.

I can't understand why many models of aircraft here in the U.S.A. deny the builder the swastika decals. How is a swastika any less offensive than the Japanese meatball or the Russian star?

This is a pair of Dutch resistance crystal radios, built into a small metal can, and a matchbox. The image is from a postcard bought at a Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. The matchbox is marked in Swedish, but Swedish matches were sold in Holland for many years..

Here's some 8mm Mauser ammo made in 1939. A couple of years ago, J&G Sales in Arizona (I think) had this for sale at a very good price. I bought a few hundred rounds for my Gewehr 98. Since that rifle is registered for the light ball used in WWI, this heavy ball shoots about eight inches high at 50 yards.

The P635 code is Gustloff-Werke, Otto Eberhardt-Patronenfabrik, Hirtenberg Niederdonau.

I'd post pics of my new acquisitions but don't have a way to do that yet-probably sometime next year.

Anyhoo, my newest "toy's" include: A mint-conditioned Close Combat Spange in Bronze, a very nice Silver Infantry Assault Badge made by one of my favorite badge makers: F.O for: Friedrich Orth, of Vienna. My last new badge is a mint hollowback General Assault Badge. Other than that, i've only got in various Shoulderboards and Collartabs.

I almost forgot, I bought a pair of 81st Inf Rgmt. Leutnant's boards (from the vets family) that had been owned by an RKT. :-D Other than that, I picked up a few Heinrich Hoffmann PK foto's and some other odd stuff.
