Cool

I just got this. It belonged to the father of a friend. He was a Lt.Col. in the Dutch Army. In WW2 he fought, after he wasliberated, with the British (101 AA ???) and later an infantry unit. He wrote he once captured 3 German Generals and about 3000 men. He took a lot of Lugers of them and gave them to his British commander to divide up between his men.

Does anybody know what this kind of holster is? I don't think it is WW2 but wonder what it is exactly. It has no markings of any kind.

I also got a bayonet which I think is also post-war.

Any pointers are appreciated.

Stevin

I doubt it. I got quite a few messages, especially form the UK that they can't access my site. Other people in the UK can, so I don't know what that is. Same problem with some people in the States.

Do more people have troubles seeing the images or accessing my site or opening the links above???

I can see the pics and access your site perfectly Stevin.

I am very interested to see what type of holster it is.

I'll try to put the pics on my photo bucket site.
Hope this works for the others...

Thanks for checking and posting Dave! I appreciate it. I dunno, maybe locking my site out is one of Britian's ways to keep birdflu out of the country. Maybe it spreads via the innernet as well!?

No, it doesn't resemble a Luger or P.38 holster, both of which I have in my collection. Apart from anything else, it looks much too small.

We're into the realms of guesswork here, but I'd theorize that it's a 'proprietary' ( ie privately-bought, not issue ) holster for one of the many small German , or captured, automatics which were often used by German officers .

Flicking through one of my books, it resembles holsters for a Sauer 38, a French Unique 16/17 or a Hungarian Femaru but there were many, many others....

It is too small for a luger. I guess it is about 17 cm long and 12 cm wide. The magazine holder (8 cm long, 3,5 cm wide) also suggests a small caliber.

I checked on the net for Sauer 38 (I thought Sauer was Israeli, but apparently it is German!?) en Femaru and they do look like this one. But like Martin said, there must be many others similar....

Stevin can you do a measurement in inches please as that will help us Americans. 6.81 inchs would be a Mauser model type II - 7.65

any markings in the flap or elsewhere at all ?

Martin has pointed out alternatives

length approx. 6,7 Inches, Width approx. 4.73 inches

Magazine holder: Long Approx. 3,15 Inches, width approx. 1,38 Inches

No markings whatsoever. The back (where the thingie is located with which you connect it to the belt) is also stictched, i.e. not metal (studs) is/are used to hold that together...Does that make sense?

I have no idea why I thought Sauer was Israeli. This has been in my mind for years, though. I remember having a discussion way back with someone about the Sig Sauer 226 (and other guns) as opposed to the Glock 17. I must have been informed (incorrectly) that is was Israeli...

You learn something every day....

Certainly not, but I wonder now abut all the things I was told about handguns from that guy as he misinformed me also on something as trivial as that!

He also told me the a Glock 17 is more useful at a target within 25 meters range, if you throw the glock at him...You had more chance of hitting your target than when you try to shoot him at that range....You are not going to tell me that is not true either!?

These revelations hit me harder than birdflu...

6.7 inch you say, not a Walther PP, too small for P08 or P-38, close to a Walther PPK at 6.59".

still could be that mauser model type II 7.65 at 6.81", but then again the Sauer model 38 (H) type II at 6.69" is probably what you are looking at...the French Unique is at 7.12 " too big.

Sauer it appears to be friend ! or a post war derivitive
