Krieg, Nice collection.
The strap, oil can, dark pouches and tool kit are for a Russian or Finish Mosin Nagant rifle.
Here's a photo of my Mosin Nagant Carbine

HI Krieg, Scott,
Krieg, great stuff. I like your Luftwaffe ammo-pouches.
Scott, that little round thing with two spouts is an oil can. I had one of these which came with the purchase of my 1953 made-and unissued, Russian SKS Carbine.

Hi John, nice Mosin Nagant. I've never owned one of these but expect to sometime in the next few years.

Re: What's your newest Militaria purchases?
Thanks Carl, and everybody!
I'm not much of a weapons person, I really like maps and personal letters, odd stuff like that, anyway, that thing looked weird with the two spouts, it caught my eye!
Nice rifle too!!

Re: What's your newest Militaria purchases?
I recently aquired a Lt. Col. pennant, I've tried to find out more about it since it's a basic training squadron but I am not having any luck.

Re: What's your newest Militaria purchases?
The only person I can think of that might know about your pennant is Lt.Col John Angolia. This guy has gotten out of collecting WWII German Militaria and is now buying all the American stuff he can get his hands on.
I no longer know how to get in touch with him but, if you Google his name, you might find a contact address.

Hi Skipper, here's what I could find out ;-))
The 4th PzGdr Rgmt was part of the 6th Panzer Division. The 6th Pz Div's units include the:
11th Panzer Regiment, 4th & 114th PzGdr Rgmts, 76th Pz Artillery Rgmt, 6th Motorcycle Battalion, an unknown Pz Recon Btn (probably the 6th???) 41st Anti-Tank Btn, 57th Panzer Pioneer Btn and the 82nd Panzer Signals Btn.
This Divisions Homestation was: Wuppertal in Wehrkries 6.
This Division was born as the 1st Light Division whose personnel was made up of Westphaleans and Rhinelanders. As the 1st Light Division, it initally contained the 4th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment & the 65th Panzer Battalion.
It saw action in Southern Poland in 1939 and was converted into a Panzer Division that Winter after the OKW deemed the unit as a Light Division-a failure. Next, it was sent to France in 1940. This division was smaller than the norm-being equipped with the light Czech-made tanks. Being so equipped, it performed very well in the West.
Next it saw combat in Russia, as part of Army Group North-where it broke through the Stalin Line and was involved on the drive to and early siege of Leningrad. Then it was transferred to Army Group Center-where it suffered heavy casualties to the Soviet 41-42 Winter Offensive, and had to be sent back to France to rest and refit.
While out of the line, the division gave up it's inferior Czech tanks, and was reequipped w/ the excellent MK III (PzKw III) tanks-which had the long-barrelled 50 MM guns. After Stalingrad was surrounded, the 6th Pz was rushed back to Russia-where it tried to relieve the 6th Army, but was halted at: "Bolwassiljewka; 30 miles South of the city. After the retreat from the Volga, the 6th Panzer Division fought at Kursk, in the Dnieper Battles and in the North Ukraine-where it was encircled-but broke out.
Next it was withdrawn to refit, then hastily sent back to Army Group Center shortly after the Russians surrounded the bulk of the 4th & 9th Armies. Later, the now burnt-out division, was sent to Hungary-where it fought in the battles around Budapest. The 6th Panzer Division, ended the war on the Southern Sector of the Eastern Front.
Some Commanders of this Division include:
GenLt. Erich Hopner (1938)
GenMaj. von Loeper (1939)
GenLt. Franz Werner Kempf (1940)
GenLt. Landgraf (1941)
GenLt. Erhard Raus (1941-1942)
GenMaj. von Hunersdorff (1943)
GenMaj. Walter Denkert (1943)
GenLt. Baron Rudolf von Waldenfels (1944-to end of war.)
GenLt. Hopner, (as a GeneralOberst) was in on the July 20-1944 plot to kill Hitler, & was executed soon after.
GenMaj. von Huenersdorff was shot in the head at Kursk on July 14-1943, and died in his Wifes arms three days later.
Hope this is of some use for ya?
Take care and best regards-Carl.
