What song were you referring to? Or when was it played, what part of the film? 
There was a soundtrack to Cross of Iron, perhaps one for The Eagle has Landed.

Don't know the name but it was played as they were parachuting onto the shore where Donald Sutherland was waiting for them and it was played as the Fallshirmjager were making their last stand in the church. It was played on the organ.

If it was when they dropped in the sea, I believe that was just film score...Sutherland mentions something about flying pigs.
