Imperial College is located 10 minutes walk from South Kensington tube station (Piccadilly, Circle and District lines). Those attending are strongly advised to use public transport or by parking at one of the tube stations on the outskirts of London and completing your journey by Underground. The cost of parking in the centre of London is very expensive, if you can find a long term place.

</B>10.45am – 11.45am RAF Laarbruch - Cold War Airbase 1954 - 1999 Sub Brit member Dan McKenzie takes us on a brief historic and photographic tour of RAF Laarbruch, Lower Rhine, Germany, now Weeze Airport, and some surrounding Cold War sites. 11.45am – 12.45pm Crossrail Keith Berryman, Managing Director of Crossrail will speak to us on this £16bn project to build a major new railway connection across central London involving a 10 mile (16km) underground section from Acton to Whitechapel. 12.45pm – 2.00pm Lunch. Lunch may be obtained locally at reasonable prices in nearby cafes and pubs. 2.00pm – 2.20pm Film. Under Night Streets – London Underground film from the 50s about what goes on in the tube tunnels at night. 2.20pm – 3.20pm London Sewers Ben Nithsdale takes us on a historic tour of the sewers of London from Bazalgette's “Big Stink” to the present network of 1400km of Thames Water main sewers 3.20pm – 3.30pm Afternoon tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits. 3.30pm – 4.30pm Upper Flood Swallet. Tim Francis of the Mendip Cave Group will give an illustrated talk on the long search for, the discovery of, and the exploration of this major cave system on Mendip. 4.30pm – 5.15pm Brief communications. Members are invited to give a short presentation on their recent discoveries or activities. Video and computer projection facilities will be available. Please advise Brian Hillman during the day if you wish to make a presentation.
Cost is £16 for members, £20 for guests. Please book on the form:

There will be a bring and buy stall for Subterranean and Cold War items.
