Default "Magic Carpet"

Any info on the ships that brought the soilders home after the war? A large number of ships that were used were called the "Magic Carpets".
Any website that list the ships and what units they carried, or if I'm lucky enough, a roster of names.

Here's a weak start on it.
Magic Carpet Press Releases
I saw a listing of ships a while back, but I didn't mark it and don't remember even how I found it. It may take you a bit of searching with different word combinations in google to find what you are looking for.

I've found something in doing some searching. World War II Troop Ship Crossings I realize that I'm the one that asked for this info, but if anyone finds out more, please let me know. Of course I didn't find what 'I' was looking for. Just my luck!

I can't help with a list of ships participating in Operation Magic Carpet, but my father was on one ship that participated. He was assigned to the USS Pickens(APA190) when the war ended. He participated in three crosssings bringing back troops. During the first trip, they picked up a few soldiers from Japan, then went down to the Philippines to pick up more troops. The Pickens went back at least two more times to pick up soldiers from the Philippines and delivered them to the west coast.

So, if your soldier or sailor was in the Philippines at the end of the war, there is a chance they came home on the USS Pickens.
