Sorry I cant be of much more assistance but I was unable to find anything you havn't. I Would try sending in a request for the military records of the above mentioned serviceman. You can download a copy of the form here:

Explain in the comments section why you are sending the request. You may not get all his information but if they can tell you where this person was stationed your stepping in the right direction
