Default Search for relatives

I found I have two half-sisters. Joan and Miriam Timpson (born 1927 and 1936 in London). Joan married GI Norman Charles Woodruff of US Bomber Command stationed in Suffolk and Norfolk, England in 1944 and 1945. They married in Battersea, South London in 1945 - Joan was 18 and Norman was 21. I have tried to find details of Norman but with no luck. I have no idea where they may have gone back to live in America after the War or where the home-town of Norman may have been. If anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful (as you can see Norman, Joan and Miriam will be quite old now and of course may already have died but I would very much like to try and find out more. There are no archive records in the UK to show that any of them died in this country.

Many thanks.
Patricia

Default Re: Search for relatives

The only Norman C. Woodruff I could locate so far who was anywhere near 21 in 1945 was this man:
NARA - AAD - Display Full Records - Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)
However, he would have been 24 in 1945. According to the Social Security Death Index, he passed away 15 January 1994, and was from my home state of NJ.

Do you have any specific details like dates of birth or perhaps where Norman might have been from originally? Every little bit helps!

Try the Warbrides newslist on Rootsweb. Also American GI Warbrides American War Bride Experience Homepage

Also try The website www.ancestorsonboard.com, which carries passenger lists of every ship that left British ports for North America beginning in 1890, has added lists for the 1940s and '50s.

Hope this may help you.
