Default F/L William Parkinson info required

Hi

I am seeking information on Flight Lieutenant William Parkinson RAF Volunteer Reserve date of death 30/10/1942 and commemorated on the Alamein War Memorial.

Family rumour has it that he died on a ship which confuses me a little - can anyone actually tell me how he died and in what circumstances as it is intriguing the family

Thanks
