Guys :
Am thinking possibly of starting up into a/c modelling again after way too many years. Anyone know in our little forum, who makes the best detailed Ju 88G-6 nachtjäger kit in 1/48th scale ?
Danke

Erich--have you ever tried Preiser of Germany? They make some cool modles. I once upon a time--bought a cool set of Luftwaffe personnel for a Diorama I built. I thought it was a kick-butt set of figures. Of course it was 1/71nd scale but--a cooool set.
I had pilots in various poses like: climbing into the cockpit-sleeping in a lawn chair--petting his German Shephard, etc. These figures were in 50 different poses--and were highly detailed.
If I remember--Ill see if I can find a website--if not ill let you know.

Dragon has made many nice things lately--I just cant afford them as well as my militaria collecting.
Also, I still want that Dragon "12" inch Uboat Commander (Who looks so much like Otto Giese of U 181) and also their Erich Hartmann figurine. I won an auction on ebay for an Erich hartmann figure--send my money and got shafted by the canadian dealer--jerk never sent it and then had the gonads to claim I never sent payment.

Sounds like some pretty cool figures. someone told me today that the Ju 88 was around $ 40.00 a year or so ago.

Thing is: 1/48th really isnt that much bigger than 1/72nd scale--I cant fathom the kit being near that price--unless I have just been out of building modles too long?? Anyway--lemme "look" around this weekend--and I will see what I can find--if anything.

Carl :
Just look , don;t buy one yet. I've got a Danish author friend who is doing a series of books on individual battles and night fighter gruppen of NJG 3 and he is bringing pics along for me to scan over. They should be excellent late war items of extreme rarity as the chaps he interviewed the last 5-10 years have asadly passed onward. Would like or at least am thinking about doing a model of one of these birds but maybe another of a friend......just don;t know yet.

Ill be cruising several sites tomorrow and have a look see, but will not buy anything. I couldnt afford to get back into building modles--till after I clear up all my debts. One good thing about today is, I woke up with 3 debts still owed--now I only have two debts left. Slowly but surely, im becoming debt free.

Erich-
One place: www.tamiya.com
I believe Hasegawa makes a great - but expensive one as well. Visit your local hobby shop and give the smelly fat guy behind the desk this same question. He should be able to look it up for you. Let me know what comes out of your search.

Darn it Bubi--where the heck have YOU been? Were you captured by the Russians again and sent to a Gulag beyond the Urals?

I must say I've been away at the front for some time, but rumors of my capture have been greatly exaggerated.......
Erich, I don't know why I forgot this, but try www.squadron.com. If they don't have it, it doesn't exist!
Sometimes little po-dunk towns have the best hobby shops. Gettysburg, PA is a perfect example.
More to follow..........

Herr Hartmann :
Well my little nothing town had a great shop back in the 70's before I left and moved to the mountains to find myself during my hippie years, upon return I found that the twon had gone enviromentalist and also survivalist in nature and in the late 80's, anything to do with war was a big no, no and the shop was basically shut down by the community. What has replaced the fine little shop is a craft store. Sorry, not into beads.......
I'll check squadron and see what is up. Have got several nice unseen Ju 88G-6 pics from some pilots that I would love to have a tribute a/c to them or at least one of them.
From one families Flugzeugführer to another !

Ah HA!! Good to hear you evaded capture. Last I heard--you and your crew chief Bimmel Mertens, were somewhere in the Crimea trying to get back to German lines--glad to hear you escaped.

This site has two old Ju-88 kits for sale. The one that is about 50% down the page looks like what you want. HC 1606 $29
http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/kitplane.htm
Of course you have to buy an airbrush kit to do it right and then when you build it to perfection, some little kid or animal will come along and smash it to bits !!!

Hey Erich,I found anouther site that sells models. The Me-109 is at this link and will give you something to shoot for in perfection. However take a deep breath when you click the prices link ! These are not for poor boys like me.
