Friedrich will become famous soon enough
Cool

Hallo!

I have made a Stuka.

I am not an expert at all. I actually suck at it, but I like modelling...

I was wondering why does the Stuka, based in France on August 1940 (I will tell you later from which Stukageschwader is it...) has little Ks in the wings...

I have also built a Me-110 (my bloody favourite aeroplane) from the Mediterranean theatre based in Sicily, 1942 and has also Ks on its wings.

Are those Ks for the Luftflštte 2 of Kesselring?

Hello Friedrich--I know that in case of "K" being on vehicles--like on Panzers etc--that would indicate Armee Grupp von Kleist, and your belief on "K" for "Kesselring" is correct.

By the way--did you know that Ewald v. kleist was a General Der Kavallerie? which means he was equel to a 3 star General at the time he had his Armee Grupp von Kleist in Russia.

You've probably hit upon it because the K means nothing when it comes to Geschwadern codes. Since air regions were split up into northern, western, eastern and southern spheres the Luftwaffe general Kommanduer was given the pleasure of....as you guessed it a letter to designate the truppen and a/c under his command. This was dispensed with shortly after the Afrika/Tunisia campaign.

"K" for Kesselring. His ego was almost as big as his smile.
