Hi All,

I'm at the planning stage for the ultimate diorama. I've just managed to clear the loft all all the stuff that has been stored up there for years and now i'm ready to start planning a diorama that will use up the whole attic. I'm planning on doing a working model of the battle of Arnhem. I've got all the tables ready and the plan is to tell the story of the battle over a series of tables on which the dioramas will be set.

From the paras getting into their aircraft and gliders, the drop, and then the battle itself. It is all going to be done using 1:35 models, or at least thats what i'm hoping for. Next stage is the research stage, ie, type of ground and contours, buildings etc. If anyone has a map or pics they can loan me i would be grateful, it will be returned to you as soon as possible. Also any pics of dutch buildings at Arnhem would help as well. I'll try to post pics as it progresses.

Regards to all

Mike

That's one heck of a project ! With some interesting challenges - modelling the Morris (?) 17-pdr gun tractors should be interesting...

And don't let anyone tell you that 'Holland's all flat' - lots of it may be, but the area around Arnhem/Oosterbeek isn't !

There are many good books with contemporary photos of the area - the two 'After The Battle' volumes are probably best overall, or any of the titles from Robert Sigmond publishing which contain many lesser-known detail photos.
