Default 3rd SS Aufklarungs Bttln. Russia - June, 1941

This is the companion piece to the SdKfz.250/3 dio. posted earlier. Tamiya BMW and Italeri figure. The BMW has clutch, brake and accelerator cables made from 2lb. monofilament fishing line. The shifter linkage to the transmission is made from stretched sprue while the brake and clutch handles are made from shaved sprue. The trooper's rifle sling is made from aluminum foil.
The base is a common decoupage board lightly stained and sealed with poly-eurathane. The ground work medium is celluclay mixed with Poly-S brand Dark Earth paint and a squirt of white glue. The vegetation is from Woodland Scenics and an ornamental fireplace broom.

Looks good.

Sprue is the solid, almost tubular bit of plastic which the individual parts are attached to when you remove them from the box ( it represents the channel down which the molten plastic flows in the mould ).

Usually it just gets thrown away, but if you warm it over a flame ( at the same time, gently pulling the ends apart ) it stretches thin and can be used for all sorts of scratchmade details ( eg whip aerials, weapons parts, etc etc ).

Yeah, I think he did! That was back in the early 80's before I realized you seldom see little if any 'eye' in 1/35th. He almost looks as though something big stepped on him!
Either way he's mine and I'll claim him,
