Hello to all my fellow WWII buffs
I am a huge WWII fan, I'm 21, my uncle was a P-51 Mustang pilot and was shot down over the English channel, he escaped the Nazis while they were marching them away from the Russian invasion and he spent VE Day in Paris. I visited him once over a weekend, what surprised me the most about him is how much he respected the German military, he said they had best weapons/tactics. My top 3 favorite WWII movies are
The Downfall
Saving Private Ryan
Das Boot

Re: Hello to all my fellow WWII buffs
Russian invasion of Eastern Germany, well I guess you could call it a liberation. I think Russia were invading not liberating, they wanted to control Europe and spread communism.

Re: Hello to all my fellow WWII buffs
I think it's wrong to call them Russians - Soviets looks more appropriate to me.
Welcome to the Forum!
I have a HUGE respect for German military from WWII myself!

Re: Hello to all my fellow WWII buffs
their helmets were so far ahead, if you look at our (USA) helmets they have the same design.

Then what might you consider Germany's unwelcomed visit to Russia?

Germany could have been liberating Russia from Stalin but Hitler instead went for conquest. I'm not sure what unit, he trained at the California Orange County fairgrounds which used to be a airforce base, from there he was deployed to England, I'm not sure how many missions he flew, like I said he was shot down over the English channel, his plane crashed near the coast and he bailed out, shortly after he was captured by the Germans, the German shepherds found him. The German who interrogated him said he should have stayed in his plane. I believe this was in 1944, he spent around six months in a POW camp near the East side of Germany, they had to relocate them because of the Russian onslaught. He said one night a low flying plane flew over them and the Germans started firing at it thats when he said him and his friend ran off and hid themselves underneath snow. The next morning they ended walking into a small town, several armed German soldiers were sitting on a sidewalk and he said him and his friend started walking away, the Germans got up and started following them, him and his friend started running away when they started shouting German at them. The Germans finally caught up with them and surrendered, one spoke a little English. This is really funny, he said they ended up spending the day with them, his friend got on this big bike and fell off of it and the Germans and my uncle laughed at him, the Germans even offered them cigarettes. But they kept their weapons on them, the next day two American jeeps entered the town, him and his friend approached them with the Germans behind them, the CO got mad at him for not taking their weapons! And he ended up spending VE Day in Paris.

ha ha. They would have done the world a favor if they defeated the Bolsheviks, they became a greater threat then the Third Reich. Patton had it right when he said we should invade them while our military is here.

While no fan of Communism...I think that many millions of Dutch, Belgians, French, Danes, Norwegians, Yugoslavs, Greeks, Poles, Czechs, Russians and Jews might disagree with your thesis...

the same could be said of those mass-murdered under Stalin's Russia and Stalin's conquered countries, the communists were just as bad if not worse than the Nazis. and thanks for the welcome! -I'm not being sarcastic.

Good to see Neo-Nazi apologists are still alive and well.
Thought they had died out... or all joined the Stormfront Forums...

Re: Hello to all my fellow WWII buffs
Brian and Stewie are on a German tour bus]
German Tour Guide: You vill find more on Germany’s contributions to ze arts in ze pamphlets ve have provided.
Brian Griffin: Yeah, about your pamphlet… uh, I’m not seeing anything about German history between 1939 and 1945. There’s just a big gap.
Tour guide: Everyone vas on vacation. On your left is Munich’s first city hall, erected in 15…
Brian Griffin: Wait, what are you talking about? Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and…
Tour Guide: We were invited. Punch vas served. Check vit Poland.
Brian Griffin: You can’t just ignore those years. Thomas Mann fled to America because of Nazism’s stranglehold on Germany.
Tour guide: Nope, nope. He left to manage a Dairy Queen.
Brian Griffin: A Dairy Queen? That’s preposterous.
Tour guide: I vill hear no more insinuations about the German people. Nothing bad happened. Sie werden sich hinsetzen. Sie werden ruhig sein. Sie werden nicht beleidigen Deutschland. You will sit down. You will shut up. You will not insult Germany. [Throws his hand up in a Hitler salute.]
Brian Griffin: Uh, is that a beer hall?
Tour guide: [Snapping out of it] Oh yes, Munich is renowned for its historic beer halls.
 Welcome to the Forum Pact.
