Yep -- I played in a community band for many years, and we played the nursing homes on a regular basis -- the Big Band tunes always were the biggest crowd pleasers

Welcome officially Shangas. We've already met on some threads. I was an anachronism in my time lines as well. While I loved rock and roll, I loved the big bands, the crooners, and jazz. There is nothing like the words of some of the WWII era ballads to pull you into that time and space. I'm another who lived for a short time in Melbourne - over 25 years ago, staying with my aunt. She is one of those 90+ ladies, but now living in Brisbane.
