New to forum, hello to all!
Hi everybody,
My name is Melvin and my main interests are Luftwaffe aircrew losses and aviation archaeology, but I must admit that I have enjoyed looking at the many battlefield archaeology pics on this forum.
Myself and two friends have recently started a new website dedicated to all aircrews from all nations who lost their lives during WWII. The site is slowly building using photographs and documents we have recieved from veterans and relatives of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We also have an aviation archaeology page showing excavations we have carried out, so far we have only added three excavations but there are more to follow. I hope some of you will come and visit our site and sign our guestbook, we would very much like to hear from you.
Lastly, I must congratulate those who have created the WWII Forum and especially those who contribute to it. Great site, keep up the good work.
Kind regards,
Melvin

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Melvin -- Welcome to the forums. You will enjoy your time here, I am sure. Many thanks for sharing your website with us. I found it very interesting when I just checked it out. I am a bit envious of the ready access that you have to archeological sites. I worked for a summer on an excavation of a Revolutionary War era British encampment on Boston Common, in Boston, MA but there are very few accessible archeological opportunities for the lay stududent in the USA.
Cheers!

greetings Melvin good to see you here.
4 November 1944 NJG 2 Ju 88G-6 shot down by Mossie XIX VY-Y of 85th sqdn. S/L Burbridge. My understanding is the LW pilots last name is spelled thus : Wöhle not Woehle .........
regards and an excellent site.

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Hi Erich,
Yes, I know the correct spelling is Wöhle but we are having problems using Umlauts on our website hence the "oe". Is this correct way of spelling without using the Umlaut? Glad you liked our site, it has taken us over 25 years to gather the photos and information so we appreciate the feedback.
Thanks to all who have welcomed me to the forum, it is appreciated!
Kind regards to all.

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Melvin am very very happy you and your team have finally put things into print / text and photos to complement your extensive findings.
I want to say and will have to dig out the info but two of your Ju 88G-6's from NJG 2 crashed in the area of As on the same date. Do believe they may have been on night ground attack missions initially but also on RAF bomber intercepts later or were to - now to find the date again
glad you are aboard, and yes using the ( oe ) for the ö works out fine .........

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Hi Erich,
I have many, many more NJG losses to add to our website, I researched NJG2 quite heavily and have some personal accounts from Luftwaffe veterans which I need translating. Are there any guys on the forum who might be willing to help with this task? Please let me know what details you have regarding your other mentioned NJG losses, I will check my files against your info! Glad you liked our website, it means a lot to us.
Thanks again to everybody for their kind words, great friendly website this!
Best wishes
Melvin

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Welcome Melvin, your website is very interesting and informative, thank you for sharing.
Am I correct in thinking that the photo on the USSAF losses page, is of the U.S. cemetery at Madingley near Cambridge?

Hello again Erich, thanks for your positive reply of help, this is great news!
Can you contact me via my e-mail address at jager2uk@yahoo.ie I can then send you through some reports that need translating, I trust this is ok?
Regarding the loss of Wöhle on the night of 04.11.44 I have found another 85 Squadron claim of a Ju 88 the same night. The claim is submitted by F/O Owen and F/O McAllister. I can e-mail you this combat report if you wish?
Best wishes,
Melvin

Re: New to forum, hello to all!
Welcome to the Forum, Melvin. I've also added your website to my WWII links folder - well done. I look forward to going back to read updates and look forward to posts you may add here.
Are you also interested in those who lost their lives while participating in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan? I live in one of the provinces which was extensively used during the training.

Hello Michelle,
Glad you liked our website and I am very pleased that you will be returning!
We have some new updates to add, it may interest you coming from Canada because it concerns the tragic loss of seven Canadian airmen killed in their Lanc on return from operations, especially as it happened about five weeks before the end of the war!.
We are having some technical problems with the site at the moment, hopefully the problem will be sorted soon.
Yes, we are interested in all losses including those who lost their lives during training. If you have anything you would like to add to our site we would be delighted, of course you will be credited. Thanks for your interest.
Kind regards
Melvin
