Default An Introduction...

Hi

Just joined.

Particularly interested in films - those made during WWII and subsequently. How different countries portray the war, and how this has changed over time.

I have recently contributed a chapter on Joseph Goebbels and Nazi Propaganda for Ian Allan Publishing's Under Fire: A Century of War Movies (Under Fire: A Century of War Movies)

Welcome Ellen. While I am thinking about it, I have a question for you, if I may. As a kid, I remember watching the first film adaptation of James Jones "A Thin Red Line" on TV (Black & White) Movie Reviews for The Thin Red Line, Information and Film Reviews for The Thin Red Line the Movie As we know, a new version was released in 1998. But over the decades, I have not seen a single trace of the 1964 version with Jack Warden. I would have liked to compare the old with the new versions. I remember I liked the old movie as a kid. But it is almost like it got wiped off the face of the Earth. Any ideas? Thanks, and again, welcome to the forum.

Greg C.

Greg

It seems that the 1964 Thiin Red Line is only available in european territories and quite rare.

amazon.co.uk has a region 2 DVD for £35 + P&P
amazon.de has a VHS for 25euros
ebay.co.uk has eight copies on a buy it now from a dealer in Spain at £14.99 + p&p - again it is a region 2.

Hope this helps.

Ellen

Ellen, welcome to the forums. I'm sure that by now you've reviewed the "WWII Films and TV" forum. Find anything interesting?
