Cheers Stewy, Erich, Stewy, thanks Mate ;-)) E, you got em soon as the site will allow me ;-)) I'd love to get one of those Auxillery Cruisers badges as well. I think that's simple one of their best designed badges ever. I also want a Retired Pilots badge too-too cool-looking to not have one ;-))

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
Hah !! like your ideas Carl but for the KM the only thing close is probably the very late war combat clasp most awarded but hardly given to the award winner.
yes maybe a wonderful Aux next year, still trying to find a very clean SA-Boot 2nd form not all covered with ocean crd and oxidized. dang in Germany the prices they command are just plain silly, but what am I saying this Blocade runners badge(s).......
ah well, it will be fun to piece this whole thing together with the gents docs and a little something else ... .
got to add to this I almost made a 1000.00 mistake the B. badge is a fake ! it has the back with a wide catch and pin not the ball/needle pin set up it should have for this maker......whew..........no matter am going another route

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
Hi Stewy, thanks and, I actually saw a photo of an Fj who had the IAB. I don't know if your familiar with some of the CDs that have been out for I guess? about 12-15 years? Anyway, I bought one that had a Fj in the cover picture used for an CD I bought that has I think about 15 German Military Songs on it. Anyway, the soldier in question is an FJ who has what looks like a Silver IAB. Its hard to tell because the photo was colorized and the colors are horible at best ;-)) There is anothe nad unrelated CD thatI have which is called: "Lieder die Wir Einst Sangen." This one is available-or was? @ Brandenburg Historica LLC: Books, Music and Military Collectibles for about $15 bucks I think? Anyway, that one too has a colorized pic used on it showing a soldier with long beard, wearing a Silver IAB. Of course, this Gent is Army and not LW ;-)) Just figured i'd mention it for photo simularity ;-))

Heh heh, thanks. I had even thought of a few others but, i didn't want to get too Eh hem "Technical". ;-))
Sorry to hear the Aux Cruiser was not legit. I always liked those badges too, and your correct, most of the German dealers are getting way out of hand on prices. I've seen a few examples for ale mostly @ Weitze. Im sure Detlev has some too but, im getting tired of having to register on sites just to see pictures.
I guess they are doing that not only for more money, but that I guess they are afraid of all their stuff leaving the Country. Speaking of which, Angela Merkel just got reelected. I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing?

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
I'm glad I have those, especially the wings, they are tiny . I scanned them at 600 dp, so they look big and so that you canspot the details, but in fact some are about an inch long if not shorter.

The latest citation to be added to my collection - a formal DKiG citation to a Stuka bordfunker of 4./StG 77.

Another new arrival - a 9 document grouping to a soldier in Panzer Grenadier Rgt 2 of the 2nd Panzer Division (Part 1):
Citation 2 signed by Generalleutnant Rudolf Veiel - suspected of being a part of the 20th July plot to kill Hitler but survived the war.
Citation 4 signed by Generalmajor Hans-Karl von Esebeck.

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
Not sure whether I should post
this item in the Trench art or Militaria section .
. It is homemade 1941 greetings card with local stamps cut out and turned into flowers with the national colours.
the Motto "travail familel Patrie " is the Vichy Regime one

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
It is Goering's seal so I'd expect to see it on the Luftwaffe ones. For the Heer ones I believe it was just a normal ink stamp as that is all I have ever seen on them, but the Heer ones also have the recpients details in red ink rather than typed and it was possibly the same for the Kriegsmarine ones (stamp wise) but as I haven't seen any clear photos for the KM I can't confirm that. There is a stamp on the KM variant shown in Forman's Third Reich Docs book (the one signed by Doenitz) but it is hard to make out whether it is ink or an embossed type.
If you are interested in buying one I know where there is a nice formal one to an officer in the Grossdeutschland Division for 1,650 Euros, or a prelimenary Heer one to a Pioneer Feldwebel for £375.

Re: What are your newest Militaria purchases II?
thanks for the explanation hucks, noted on Weitze one DkG doc to a Km member, nothing special as to stamping except having Dönitz's sisg at the bottom right corner. still a lovely doc the price a bit shocking as you just mentioned about the G. Deutschland receipient but am going to assume the price also includes other documentation ? the Pioneer Feldwebel sounds much more reasonable to me.

Nope - the GD one is just the formal DKiG citation, no extras. It is a pretty standard price for a formal DKiG citation to a member of an elite unit. My one cost a shade over 900 Euros so you can see the difference between a formal citation to a member of a 'normal' unit and an elite one.
I also know where there is a nice 6 citation grouping which includes a prelim DKiG citation for 1,650 Euros. Prelim DKiG citations are usually priced around 350-450 Euros.
