Default my first tdb pic.

I finally got a tdb in wear photo. I thought I would share it here.
It looks like the actual metal tank is very low on the badge.
With the silver backing all to the top. ISA and wound badge in wear too.
kind regards John

Hi John, great shot there and I like the fact that you can also see his BWB and IAB too.

I have a few pics with TDBs in wear and I THINK at least two of them were posted here somewhere?

One pic is a press pic showing Hauptmann Peter Kiesegen an he had four on his arm. The other two I am thining of shows three newly minted RKTs and one of them also has a TDB.

Hi john, I think the two with the same man is in the thread that Skipper kindly did for me called something like: Carls Militaria photos. I remember looking in there about a week ago and saw that thpose two pics were still in it. The other -which has Hptm Kiesegen in it-is in the thread started by JulioMoc for me. That one is in another section but higher up on the site. Also, when I can get my pice ack from teh studio that s been transferring them to CD for me, ill have extra copies of them made if you want to see most of my pics? I still have some 50 or so that all belong to Karl Kaiser my German Vet/Friend who served w/ Wolfgang Luth on U-181-then under Kptn.z.S. Kurt Freiwald on the same uboat. He is also a DKiG Recipeint. Anyway, I have around 40-50 pics from his service through their surrender in Singapore. Those will have to be on a 4th or 5th CD. In there are four pics whowing he and a few others, being awarded their DKiGs ;-))

Anyway, when all is said and done, ill be glad to make and send you copies of my CDs if you like? ;-))

Take care--Carl.

Default Re: my first tdb pic.

should not be metall but cloth tank on the badge if I correctly assume. yes I have at least 3-4 pics on the wearer with the TdB. A deceased friend was given credit in name only for 4 Soviet T-34's and due to his present up line and behind the lines service with his waffen-squad he never received the award in person. He and his team operated both the Panzerfaust 100, 150 and the Panzerschreck 54 in Ost Preußia in late 44-45 and the hellacious retreat to Hela.

congrats John

Nice pic John...Congrats on getting this one.

This one is especially nice due to not only having a TDB but also the IAB (which I am partial to)...

Best Regards, fischer

oh what the heck just to enthuse John and whomever with the TdB pics

a fine shot of Herr Ahrens and I should download the pic from Bodo S.........

I also stand corrected they indeed have a center metal tank with 3 prongbacking, but also embroidered as well as field made-quite crude in fact as presentation pieces

Well, heres my 2nd attempt at posting this but, since his name starts with an "H" he must be either Heinrich or Hinrich Ahrens, Any other Ahrens with "H" for the first name are either officer, or in a non Army branch of service.

Sooooooooooooooo, if his first name is Heinrich? his info is:

Heinrich Ahrens. 3rd Kompanie, Grenadier Regiment 392. Award date: July 2nd 1944.

If his first name is Hinrich? his info is:

Hinrich Ahrens. 14th Komanie, Grenadier Regiment 391. Award date: April 7th 1944.

None of the other Ahrens whose name starts with "H" can be him unless he had either transferred to the Luftwaffe or Waffen SS-and or also been promoted to Leutnant.

DOH!, I just realized this is Heinrich, I didn't recognize him without his M-43 cap-DUH... I have his pic lying about somewhere ;-))

Looks aLOT like Heinrich but noticed this guy is younger than he is. I STILL don't have my photos back from the shop doing then transferrs, or I could have compared Heinrich with Hinrich ;-))

Hinrich A. RK Januar 9, 1945 when in September 44 he was transferred into 13 kp. Gr. Rgt. 1141/561st Volks Gr. Div.

first used a 3.7cm Pak in Pjgr kp. his kills of soviet tanks were usually with the Panzerfaust. it is reported his last and 4th kill was with two hand grenades but his official documentation says otherwise. he was in command it appears with a 7.5cm AT gun and the receivement of the RK was in October of 44 when a force of some 70 Soviet tanks attacked his crew knocking out many ........... whatever that means as I do not have a figure.

1st TdB Feb 7, 1943
2nd/3rd TdB's Nov. 19, 1943, he scored 2 kills
4th TdB Nov. 18, 1944

Looks like I got Heine mixed up with Hinni. I just noticed that Hinni is younger-looking than Heine is, but didn't have his pic handy to say for sure since these are STILL at the photo=lab being transferred to CD
