Default Poetry corner

Well, seeing as my mood has driven me to this poem, I think I'll share it with you rogues. It's a Poem from Almeida Garrett called: I don't love you.
First, the PT version:

Não te amo, quero-te: o amor vem d'alma.
E eu n 'alma – tenho a calma,
A calma – do jazigo.
Ai! não te amo, não.
Não te amo, quero-te: o amor é vida.
E a vida – nem sentida
A trago eu já comigo.
Ai, não te amo, não!

Ai! não te amo, não; e só te quero
De um querer bruto e fero
Que o sangue me devora,
Não chega ao coração.

Não te amo. És bela; e eu não te amo, ó bela.
Quem ama a aziaga estrela
Que lhe luz na má hora
Da sua perdição?

E quero-te, e não te amo, que é forçado,
De mau, feitiço azado
Este indigno furor.
Mas oh! não te amo, não.

E infame sou, porque te quero; e tanto
Que de mim tenho espanto,
De ti medo e terror...
Mas amar!... não te amo, não.

Now the English version:

I don't love you, I want you. Love comes from the soul
In my soul there's - calmness
A calmness from the Grave.
Oh! I love you not!
I don't love you, I want you. Love is life
And life - without feelings
Is lodge in me.

Oh! I don't love you; and I just want you
A longing so rough and wild
The blood that devours me,
Doesn't get to my heart.

I don't love you. You're gorgeous; and I don't love you, oh gorgeous one!
He who loves the dreadful star
Which beacons on the darkest hour
Of his own demise!

And I want you, and don't love you, which is forced,
Of foul, convenient spell
This unworthy frenzy.
But oh! I love you not.

And I'm infamous, because I want you; badly
And I amaze myself,
From you, fear and terror...
However loving!... I don't love you, not.

Translating poetry is hard...
Anyway, hope you like it.

Cheers...

Muss,
How about moving or copying a couple of Sapper's quite moving poems in his thread to this section?

All the Best,
- JR
