I have found close combat pales in comparison to Combat Mission. If you don't know what it is, you are missing out huge.

This game is the PC adaptation of the great Playstation WW2 game called Medal of Honor. It can also be found on the links page.

I can't believe I forgot this!! Wittmann you will love this especially. In combat Mission, you can control legendary WW2 Heroes, like Michael Wittmann in the Villers Bocage scenario! Download the demo at their homepage, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the info Otto, but this darn computer has X-stop on it   and I cant see it

That other game sounds   though. I like the idea of being Michael Wittmann in the Bocage area. [IMG] You can bet that he would not have died there if I could control his movements :D

There is one scenario in particular where his Tiger can potentially devastate two dozen AFV's! Unfortunately for Michael, his tank is under constant attack from allies aircraft as well. 9 out of 10 times the Typhoons get him before the allied armour does.

That figures-he doesnt even have a chance in a game either! Can you pull him out of the Bocage region? is it also possible to get him some AA support like from Wirblewinds?

No, I didn't describe that accurately. What I mean is, he usually survives and put a whole lot of holes into allied tanks, but he sometime gets knocked out himself too. When he does, it is usually aircraft that score the kill.

Hi Evans, nice idea but there were (as far as I know) no Wirbelwinds in Normandy. (But there were some möbelwagens)

There are quit a few anti aircraft weapons available, but I find the best tactic is to leave Wittmann fairly well hidden, or among buildings at least, and then leave other less valuable vehicles in the open as a more juicy target. I honestly feel bad sacrificeing those guys, but it has to be done sometimes!!! ;)

Hello Wittmann: You are correct. I do not ever recall any Wirbelwinds in Normandy. In fact, I rarely see anything about them although I have seen some video of them being used in the Ardennes offensive-I just don't remember their locations.

Most of the AA weapons used there were multi-barreled MG's some 88's, and somekind of flak artillery that was manned by the Luftwaffe. In fact, I have a photo of a Luftwaffe crew manning one with all the barrels depressed to ground level. Someday,, the photo might be used here. [IMG]
