Once you get the hang of it, the game is pretty awesome. I got 6 kills with a SMG before returning to base in a succesful attack - including an AA Gun of some sort! I also managed to repair a down bridge that let us take another city as it allowed our tanks and reinforcements to cross the river right into town. Luckily, the RAF didnt blow it up again. The nice thing about being part of a squad (who also has members of the HC) is that they'll make missions and take you along. For instance, i was part of a 3 man glider team (all Knights) that managed to sneak into a French City and capture a Spawnable and defend it long enough for reinforcements to arrive and then the city was ours!
Also some links for good info on WWIIOL here: Web-page: http://www.wwiionline.com/scripts/wwiionline/index.jsp Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_Online Weapons of WWIIOL: http://wiki.wwiionline.com/index.php/Units Some youtube videos. The game is called 3 different names, WWIIOL, WW2OL, and Battleground europe, all will get different videos. It should be noted these videos are from all different years of the game, since it was released in 2001. There are videos from 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, so be mindful incase you think the game is a POS, some of the terrible laggy day videos such as SmackD's videos are not true to how the game now is. http://youtube.com/results?search_query=Battleground+europe&search=Search http://youtube.com/results?search_query=wwiiol&search=Search http://youtube.com/results?search_query=ww2ol&search=Search
Last night there was a massive bombing raid that involved 66 planes. 33 He 111s and 33 BF 110 escorts. I have screenies, however to make sure I do not get lag spikes my player visibility limit is turned down, so you never see all 66 planes. The screenshot of the map gives you an idea about the size of the raid though, and even the pictures are pretty cool. The formation was harassed all the the way to the target and back. By the time the formation had dropped their bombs on the english factory town we were down to 22 HE 111s and 18 BF110s. Quite a large number of enemy fighters were shot down attempting to intercept but they still did their damage. At first the formation flying close together, so the concentration of fire from the upper and lower gunners were enough to drive may of the fighters away, but as the battle went on and the formation got stretched out and losses started to mount.
I took part in the same raid as Wokelly... The power of the formation... the image doesn't show it, but there are about 7 He111s all firing their tail guns at this poor H75... he quickly dove away smoking. : Formation pictures from the tailgun and nose gun of my He111... Our formation is alittle sloppy, but it does its job for the most part. What's your ingame name Mussolini?
It is: LRDGRat (KNIGHTS) I took part in a failed para-drop on Kamper. I ended up landing on the barracks building near the Town N CP...i have no idea what killed me up there as i couldnt see any EI unless it was an AI.
Well as I do more and more research I'm starting to really like this game. But I can't get past the fact that you have to pay $15/mth. That's a lot of coin per year. How does one justify, paying that much money a year to play a game? (mind you a great game)
Do a one year suscription, it 129.99, so it will come out to about $11.00 a month instead of 15 a month.
Here are some movies. I can not vouch for these links all working, if they don't work try Youtube and type in WWIIOL, or WW2OL, or Battleground Europe. This is just 4 pages worth in the 15 page movie
