Thank you Kai. I don't have a question to ask, so I will open the field to anyone who wants to ask a question.

In the Italian theatre on March 22, 1944 a total of 88 B-25 bombers were lost.

Name the cause for the losses.

OK a question about one of my favorite battles. It's a three parter.

In total, there were 4 phases of the battle for Monte Cassino. The final phase saw an allied unit occupy the ruins of the monastery atop the mountain.

    1) Name the unit that successfully dislodged the German troops and occupied the rubble of the abbey.

    2) Name the commander of that unit (who is now deceased).

    3) Identify where the above mentioned officer was laid to rest.

Ha! I knew the code for being attacked by a sub was SSS, a quick search reveals the raider signal was RRR (I hope).

I believe it is four R's rather than three.
SSSS would indicate an attack by U-boats and AAAA for aircraft for example.

There are four letters indeed but none of the answers is correct so far. The answer can be found in the net, I just checked! And the letter has nothing to do with R for raider.

The message meant "suspicious ship sighted".
