HELLO TO EVERYONE, IT IS SO GOOD TO BE BACK! I'M NOT SURE OF ANY OF YOU REMEMBER ME BUT I WAS AN AVID MEMBER FOR QUITE SOME TIME, HAVING DEALINGS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH C.EVANS, KAI AND OTTO TO NAME A FEW! I HOPE TO MAKE REGULAR APPEARANCES HERE! I LOOK FORWARD TO TALKING WITH ALL OF YOU AGAIN! PS-OTTO, THE FORUMS LOOK GREAT
How could we forget you, Panzerknacker - a big welcome back ! ( The forum has been a bit lacking in input from Australia over the last year )
One of our Aussie Ace has returned, welcome back Panzerknacker! It's great to hear from you again. You are certainly one of the old guard, a 5+ year member! Is that your ink in your avatar? If so it looks cool, must have been taken shortly after you had it done too, judging by the bright colors.
I remember you. I made an avatar of of soldier eating a t-34 for you once! It's good to have you back, even though you brought a love of the caps lock key with you my friend! Good to have a 1000+ post Ace back in the hangar.
Sorry Panzerknacker havent had the pleasure of running in to you yet.. But hello it is now a pleasure
Hi PzKnacker, I definately remember you as well as some of those discussions. Glad to see you back here and in good health.
I must say the caps lock was just in pure excitement. OTTO- Yes thats my latest ink, taken about 1 week after it was done, it is still quite bright though, 1 year on. Sloniksp- Great to see you, look forward to crossing swords with you over our forums here! Za Rodinu- the excitement of being back spurred my energy on to post, I looked at the clock and nearly fainted...these forums have the habit of just sweeping me up in ww2 euphoria! peppy - yes, great avatar, i think it was for PzJgr but i got it in the end! Again, great to be back guys!!!
Hello wlconqr! You're not returning so much, as you have been posting at least every month or two, but welcome to the new Forums anyways. I appreciate any 4 year veteran! :vc: Welcome back from the army, how is the military Police business? I must say I took a look at your profile and you look very different than the young kid in the back of the lorry that used to be there!
Ah, nice to see were talking about one of my all-time most favorite of America's Royalty -- the Duke. ;-D Mitchum as Sheriff J.P. Harrah: "Damn you Bull." Looks up and recognizes Cole Thornton (John Wayne) "What are you doing here?" Thornton-grinning: "I'm looking at a tin star with a drunk pinned on it." I just love that scene (one of many in) El Dorado.
[threadjack mode] I never really liked Howard Hawks as a director, that film looks rather forgettable. When the pretty boy starts singing I leave the room! I very much prefer the John Ford or Henry Hathaway movies. Favourite quote: US Marshall Rooster Cogburn: "Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Cheng Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!" [BANG!] [/threadjack mode]
And most definately, proven from the above ;-)) PS, Za, if interested in Western movies and not only just John Wayne, please go to this most excellent site and let me know what you think of it? The following website is THE BEST site on the net about the Duke and has links to many great sites about Western movies--such as The Old Corral. Anyway, the site im ranting about is: www.dukewayne.com Best regards -- C.
Thanks C, I'm logging in! I do love Western films in general, and have an especial liking for the Duke. Actually one of my aliases elsewhere is Trooperthornton, but that has to do with The Quiet Man, another all-time favourite of mine Enough threadjacking for now!
Hi Za, a small correction if I may? ;-D I think you got El Dorado mixed up with Rio Bravo. Rio Bravo has Ricky Nelson aka Colorado, the (singer in question) El Dorado did have its young new hollywood star in the name of James Caan as Alan Bourdillon Traherne "Mississippi." I do agree with you though about Howard Hawks. He is not that great of a director and I like John Ford and Lewis Milestone; much better. Oh and, on the dukewayne site, a man by the name of William T. Brooks - who is also a member, makes regular postings there. What is so special about this Gent? is that he was in several of the Dukes movies such as: She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (as the Trooper with the Guidon) Mr. Brooks also was a friend of John Wayne.
