While I just heard this, I must point out, that I have no written proof of this at all. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this. I have a co-worker who is German. And he has told me that a relative of his (not sure who or how they are related) said that Hitler was heard saying that..If Germany had the Canadian Army and my Luftwaffe We'd win the war vs Russia. I abviously don't believe this knowing how hitler thought of anyone on the allies, let alone canada. But this guy swears by it. I find it impossible really
Is there a thread anywhere on the forum that discusses Canada's participation, effort, accomplishments (and there were many), it challenges, and its sacrifices during WW II?
Thank you, Patrick. I have joined but have not found it (at least so far) to be as vibrant and informative as this forum.
i agree Za, sounds like conjecture! nessie isn't real?! great, the next thing you're going to tell me is there is no Santa!
It's a nice story, but it's probably just that - a story. I've checked my copies of 'Hitler's Table Talk' and 'Hitler And His Generals' which together contain most of Hitler's recorded wartime utterances, and I'm sorry to say that apart from one passing reference to 'Catholic Canada' in Table Talk, Canada isn't mentioned at all......
gee no santa either? then how did those presents get under the tree then? *curses Aliens* anyways canada and germany fighting side by side back then?.....lol sorry for hitler, canada like allies more.
ive heard a similar story. Apparently he said that if he had British soldiers commanded by his German officers then he would have ruled the world. My dad told me that, though he could have just heard it from a mate down at the pub so ive no idea if its true. Probably a case of Chinese whispers, he might have said something along those lines but i guess we will never really know unless it was recorded in some form. Hell he could have said if he had the women's auxiliary air force he could have conquered the world, we will never know without a transcript.
Not sure either what Hitler said, but he definitely was impressed with the British Empire ruling the world with "not so many men" doing the guarding for example if you compare the situation in India back then.
