Amrit, to answer another question of yours, it's been 230 years so far, and still going pretty darn well. I for one, will NOT leave my country if some bitch like billery clinton gets voted in. I will not like it but, I will also know that my vote was not wasted by voting for that she-imp.

C Evans - I'm just as happy to discuss Europes past as I am Americas. You may have picked up from my user name that, though born and brought up in Britain, I am of Indian Sikh stock. I have no sympathies for Britains past either.

My bottom-line is that colonial powers (past and present) have a lot to answer for, both in the treatment of imperial subjects and their own minority citizens.

And I make no bones about using the term imperial - any nation that that plays a major part in the running of another without the complete consent of the occupied nation is an imperial power.

So, where would you like to start with Britain - I'm game.

 

Hi Amrit, believe it or not, I completely agree with your last posting. ;-D

Give me awhile before we debate Britain. I am in the process of taking several medications for my Familiar Tremors and a bad staph infection I have. The meds I am taking keep me sleepy and make me lose concentration at times. This will be an ongoing treatment for the next several months. I have so much medicine running through my veins right now that, I woke up this morning thinking it was already next Saturday. ;-))

Also, I am constantly having to correct spelling errors I have been making today.

It looks like the racist black criminals featured on the websites linked by willconqr : what a joke, please willconqr, can you tel me how many of the featured lynch mobs member were prosecuted and charged ? THIS is the point.

And isolated anti-white acts every now and then are far from taking the weight of the frequent (but FAR from being a standard ) black lynching that has occured for decades, because the inferiority of black people was widespsread in white minds, which is still the case today, to some extend.

Anyway, this large scale anti black racism is a part of US history, like in many if not all occidental countries ; it was not too long ago and people should live with this, because denial or attenuation facing proofs is always ridiculous and a disgrace.

But this belongs to the past, it has to be remembered so the US people do not the same crimes that some of their fathers and grandfathers comitted, but the fact theses pictures are really shocking is the proof that this belongs to the past : it is far from being something you can see in USA nowadays, this does not represent USA today.

Fighting the devil within is everybody's everyday's mission and this kind of historical events remind us what happends if we don't.

And I think most of the countries pretend they are moraly superior when you listen to their administration's bullshit, USA is no better or worse that most of the countries in this domain, it's just a media amplification due to the fact USA is the #1 superpower.

To sum it up, OK to remember and discuss this not-so-old part of USA history, but not OK to judge USA on this single part of its history, which again is more than shared with most if not all occidental powers.
