Supermarine Scimitar

I was reading about this British aircraft and learned a few new things.
The Royal Navy sent it to the Gulf in 1961 because the Iraqis were threatening Kuwait.
The aircraft had a 51% loss rate, worse than the F-104.
The Royal Navy thought of using rubber decks and aircraft with no landing gear on it's carriers.

Hydraulics seems to have been one of many major problems. Even ejecting wasn't always a safe option:

Jets from that era were much much prettier than the expensive Mattel toys of nowadays
