Haven't seen that pic of it before, horrible contraption, by comparison my avatar is classy (basic idea was similar with even less resources available).

... The idea was discarded after the tanks attracted public ridicule

Actually this tank was liked by the public for there ability to make something out of nothing... The army discarded this one though due to the bad performance, lack of armor etc..

We could start a thread oh Holt/Caterpillar derivatives. I believe Culqualber (my avatar) and it's half brother saw combat as did some of Spannish Civil War ones, but there could be others.

Are there special rules to this thread or can anyone play? I have a photo of a tank I'd love some information on - I beg forgiveness from the get-go, because tanks are not my area of expertise, so I will botch the terminology.

We got together with a man who served with my dad, and he had two photo albums. I copied most of his photos, and this photo is one of them. Mr. Ament couldn't remember where it was, so I'd be interested if anyone has any thoughts on location. And the tank says "Satan," so I wonder if it is a Satan flamethrower.....

Photo courtesy of Mr. Robert Ament - 608 Engineer Light Equipment Co.

(The photo I posted was fairly large, but it doesn't appear to be large when you click on it, if you have trouble seeing it, someone please let me know and I'll try something else.)

Anyone can play Clem, but perhaps you gave a little too much away. Still it will take the average member a little looking up to find the correct name for this variant.

BTW, good to see you out and about. :)

Whoops.....I didn't even think of that, and having confessed my ignorance, I didn't want to appear to be a complete dolt.

And thanks, it's good to be out and about.

Looks like a Sherman ARV (Armoured Recovery Vehicle) to me, wonder what it's doing in the midst a medical unit that doesn't seem to have anything that requires that big a tractor.
