    Actually quite interesting.

I'm not going to waste time over someone who cannot see the dichotomy of averring that the Swastika is his 'favourite emblem' whilst signing off with a Screaming Eagle.

But here is someone of what - 14 years? - whose knowledge of WWII ( and probably much else ) seems to be derived from computer games ; the 'click-and-go' generation, I guess.

To them, symbols such as the two mentioned above are just that - 'cool' symbols, colours on paper ( or a screen.... ) with not a moments' reflection on what those symbols actually stand for to others. From there it's probably a short step for some to defiling memorials and graves, victimising minorities....who knows ?

For the person in question, there's probably little hope. If he hasn't started to learn to think by that age, well.... [IMG]

But I still think that such places as this Forum most definitely have validity, to at least try to prevent such ignorance becoming the norm.

    The Swastika.

    That's your favourite embleme?

A flag that symbolises the worst forst of genocidal totalitarianism? That symbolises the megalomania of a man and a people that caused the greatest war and bloodshed in Human History?

    Cool indeed…

God. It isn't my "favorite emblem" but it seems like you guys aren't really talking about your favorite emblem either! Just some interesting ones! I just pointed this out! I'm not the "click and go" generation as you call it. Yes, I own games, but I do research, and find out info about the war! As you speak, i'm looking for info about The B.A.R. ! So don't run your mouth about things you don't know!

It seems like most of you don't like me at all, always running your mouth and disagreeing with me! Is it because Im younger? In a earlier thread, one person asked for info, and he asked if I was a historian! My only friend here is PFC Wilks. I'm just tired of running your mouth about stuff you don't know! [IMG]

For many people who did some really bad things, it was a way of life.

Let's just say that the thread was entitled "Favourite emblem" and then someone posts a nazi flag with the tagline "Need I explain?". This is at the very least....a little odd.

Now, no one was outright accusing anyone of being a nazi, but Monty Cassino had a valid point when he asked that you should indeed explain your feelings about such a symbol. You can't fault anyone anyone for at least questioning you when a post of that nature is made.

Sorry Otto, I should explain. With the flag, I was thinking of a popular symbol during that time. The Nais used it alot,so was popular.

In defense of the forumites inhabiting this place, I was 15 when I first joined and never had a problem with people 'running their mouth off' as you seem to Patton. Mind you, that might be because (I hope) I treated other members with the respect they deserve and was only too happy to explain any controversial points I may have made without flying off the handle at things.

As for the main topic, well I think Sally B deserves a mention

And of course the cap badge of the Buffs:

I'll have to look that one out. It was my grandfathers regiment (in Italy) so I have a special place for them.
