See I knew were were among civilized people:) now it's time to find as many as posible of these great pics on the internet. The I.H.T. has ten (link provided by von Poop), other papers show others , there are 270 total! The best would be to go to the show, but that's a bit far away (and expensive) for those who don't live in France.

    Asterix-
The bit I took offence at- as I've repeatedly said- was this:

This would be the same Daily Mail which has recently run stories on Mosley's son Max and his scandalous sexual shenanigans. ;)
Under his father's shadow: The truth about disgraced Max Mosley, son of Nazi-sympathiser Oswald | the Daily Mail

Don't believe everything you read on wikipedia.

..not only that..but the 'Mail' article quite clearly goes on to state that the reality of life in occupied France had little to do with the bucolic scenes here..70,000 Jews deported, more than a million Frenchmen sent to Germany under the STO..etc etc. No 'cavalier' attitude there...

..and FWIW even French authors write books entitled 'Les beaux jours des collabos..'

    Gordon,

There has obviously been a misunderstanding. My statement,
"Then again, you work for the Daily Mail, so one shouldn't be surprised. Perhaps Mr Hardman should write an article about how the Mail was sympathetic to Mosley's British Union of Fascists." was aimed squarely at Mr. Hardman, not you. I directed this towards him as a response to his article, beginning with "Yes, Mr Hardman, the French had it "so well" during the occupation."

I am assuming you are not Mr. Hardman. I apologize if I did not make this clear enough.

Well, the Daily Mail has to turn the corner someday. As far as wiki, or any other web source, I always prefer books over internet sources, which leads me to fear greatly what future references and sources will be used in future publications, say 20 years from now. I shudder at the mere thought.

I think you'll find that happened nearly 70 years ago...along with most other people naive enough to sympathise with Fascism pre-war.

Not sure why the author chose to even bring this up, as

1-The STO has nothing to life in occupied Paris at his time, and
2-The STO began in summer of 1942, long after these images were taken.

In fact, at the time these images were taken, hardly anyone had been deported from France, whether they were Jews or STO deportees. How does this compare with images taken in Paris in 1943 or 1944? Indeed, "Oh what a lovely war" is a very inaccurate and misleading description.

a small note to the usual photos

these photos are available at the veteranen fotoalbum

    Concern is:
how many French soldiers KIa WW II ?
how many french killed by partisanen france ?

    (resistance 44-45 )
    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
    ?????????????

If the French nation in that time have united in anything, then not in the resistance, but "in their relief, no longer participate in the war,"

under the "spontaneous purges" approximately 10000 people [110] without any legal basis [111] murdered. This dark side of the coin is part of the history of the Resistance.

in the decade from 1958 to 1968, when de Gaulle for the second time at the head of the French state was, it is a veritable cult Resistance observed.

"Here rests Georges Mandel, murdered by the French enemy on 7 July 1944, "is there at the memorial.

    ok ? translate this ....:::: ( please)

Domherr could you provide a link for the Zucca pictures at Veteranen album ? I went on the site and launched a search but did not find the pictures.

Your source would be interesting to read (with the complete context, not just a few chosen sentences) but may I take this thread back to the original topic?

The Historical Library of the City of Paris has about 270 colour photographs of sensational Zuccas now for the first time there - and a storm of indignation triggered. The review was described as "Nazi propaganda" insults, the Paris mayor cultural advertising was set for visitors were in a hurry all the explanatory text table at the entrance and set up appropriate flyers printed.

Paris unterm Hakenkreuz - in Farbe - einestages

The number of visitors in the otherwise rather quiet Bibliothèque historique of the city in the historic Marais district is still enormous - or precisely because of the controversy. The fact that life under the "occupation" for most French people not so simple in the two categories of collaboration and resistance is the other categories, is for historians are not really new.

auftragsgemäß the jolly life of Paris during the German occupation in aesthetically geglättetem black and white. Through its good relations with the Germans, he came to the rare Agfacolor films and could in his spare Paris in color down. Zucca even saw itself as an apolitical, but after the liberation of the French capital by the Allies was erim October 1944 but arrested as a collaborator.

Thanks Domherr: I checked the Spiegel pictures: unfortunately they were the ones I had already seen on the other links. Apparently the International press have all the same eight or ten pictures. I hope to find more different ones.

The essay is a bit long. I will read it on a rainy day and when I'm done I'll glady discuss this over in another topic.
    I don't need a translation: Ich spreche Deutsch.

pictures of france campaign are not uncommon.
also pictures taken by the time 1940-43.

    (black+white)

    modern pictures, I have too.
I worked in paris times, for weeks.
    (Surplus Shop)

Do you have interviews of soldiers who were based there?

because I always like to speak with veterans.
I have many calls in memory.
France was for many a beautiful memory.

Yes I have some pictures from WWII Paris, but I am acually more interested in the airforce , so I only have a few. I buy some from time to time, but they are often pictures of the touristic sites. I prefer buying deathcards (Sterbebilder) and aircraft pictures.

I believe France would be a much pleasanter posting than the Ostfront, no doubt there.

Even if it became not so pretty later.

No doubt about that, Paris was a Paradise compared to the Ostfront, but this of course was a German point of view: Wie Gott in Frankreich , as the saying goes. However if asked to the civilians, including some of those you see on these pictures (Belleville, Marais) this was more like Hell, or a gateway to Hell.
