Just wondering if they are any Warhammer 40k fans around. What about War Machine? If not, tell me what you play, as I'm always ready to be an armchair general and play with little plastic men!:D

Cool links, Red Baron. Now stop turning me on to new distractions, I'm too poor to start another TT game, lol!:D Seriously though, I'm gonna look deeper into some other wargames, especially WW2 ones, so thanks everyone for the help! I'm a relative newcomer to 40k (been playing for close to 3 years), and even if I don't take up another game, I can draw inspiration from them.

Well, I like the sci-fi element of 40k, but recreating scenarios such as Point Du Hoc on the tabletop would be extremely cool....

Heres the Yahoo Group for Warhammer WWII.

Welcome to the Alternate Warhammer World War Two (AWWW2) group!

This group is devoted to WW2 miniature wargaming and is an unofficial supplement for Warhammer 40K (3rd OR 4th Edition).

Alternative Warhammer WW2 is a free fast and furious miniatures wargame system for skirmish (platoon) level WW2 battles, loosely based on a variation of Warhammer 40K game mechanics, and is intended either for players with experience with 40K who wish to expand their horizons into WW2 historical gaming, or WW2 historical gamers looking for a set of quick play rules.

In AWWW2, each figure represents an individual soldier, weapon, or vehicle, and rules are fairly simple and playable, but with sufficient detail to please all but the hard-core gamer.

There are numerous orders of battle (army lists) covering units of most of the major participants, a few sample scenarios, and supplemental (optional) rules and player aids that may be added as players see fit. All can be found in the FILES section of this group and are free to download.

I've played Warhammer and WH40k, lost interest. Became too comercialized if you ask me. Plus, a bit oriented to the newest armies as they came out. I thought about Flames of War, but most of my friends are'nt interested in spending sooooo much money or painting the models. So I bought Axis & Allies minis. Turned out to be a hit! We all played the board games and it was much simpler to learn than other tabletop games. Some friends bought pieces, I have tons. Enough to share with friends. I get much more satisfaction and play time with these games. It's not the most reallistic or accurate of games, but loads of fun for me. Any other A&A players?
