    Hi All

My father was radio operator in a Lancaster of No.9 Squadron, shot down
on the night of Jan 1-2 1944. A couple of years ago, with help from a German journalist and the Mayor of Weyhausen, I found the crash site.
I'd really love to contact relatives of the rest of the crew to tell them, but
have no idea how to go about finding them.
    Can anyone help.

    Rgds

    Cornman (otherwise John).

    Hello Cornman!

I´m sure there are people here who can help you further.

Maybe for the rest of us you could show some pics etc? That would be great, if possible!

    Welcome to the Forums!

you didn't mention if anyone survived? if they didn't the commonwealth war graves details usually have a town/area where each of the crew came from, then you can either visit and check local records or if its too far, you can get something put in the local paper. If Aussies or canadians were in the crew they seem better organised to trace relatives at their respective websites...

Welcome Corman. Could you give us more details , such as the serial number of the Lancaster? This would help.

It may be worth contacting the IX Squadron Association : -

    IX Squadron Association › News

and also the Bomber Command Association, based at the RAF Museum Hendon. There are certainly some very enthusiastic ex-9 Squadron veterans stil lwith us ; I was fortunate to meet some of them at a Hendon signing event a year or two back.

Welcome, Cornman. It will be interesting to hear how your quest progresses. If Canadians were in the crew, you could probably advertise in the Royal Canadian Legion Magazine. Sometimes family members have remained members or subscribed. Also they sometimes have the Lost Trails section included online. Good Luck.
