Japanese ww2 Identification marks anyone?

    hey, i was recently looking at the sword that i got from my great grandfather, and i noticed it had some symbols on it tht i couldnt find anywhere else. could anyone help me? ill post the symbols here:

    [​IMG][​IMG]it has another one too, but its an uknown japanese character. :eek: can anyone help? ive never seen all these symbols together before :eek:

    Most likely both are manufacturing marks. You might try some samurai sword sites to see if they match up to any known ones.

    The first symbol is an arsonal mark. The mark belongs to the Kokura Arsenal(unless it was manufacted before 1935 in which the mark would have belonged too the Koishikawa Arsenal)
    the second I believe to be a series mark similiar to a serial number. I've seen very similar marks on the Arisaka rifles.
