Okay let's try how you like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15rhhNDPyNs You won't understand, but this song is in the Limburgs dialect and is about my hometown,
Cas, that song has a nice sound. The melody reminds me of an American or Irish folk song, but I can't remember which one.
Melody reminds me of "Keep on the Sunny Side" by the Carter Family, although "keep on the Sunny Side" has a faster tempo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbmQQ4RfzVE Still, the melody does remind me of several American folk songs, Just this one popped into my head first.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2BYZUvFCdk Tnis song is actually about the Cemetary: Translation In the morning when the fogs lifts Out of the white cloud 1,000 crosses slowly appear An endless field of honour Every cross is a hero On each cross a black raven is sitting What was it worth to you to throw away your life overhere For a small country you didn't even know of it's exsistance What was it worth to you fighting for other people When you didn't have to if it was up for mother to say When I look upon these rows of white crosses I realize what you have done for Limburg To chase away the enemy, you had to risk your life And could'nt go back to America Every Cross is a monument for some strange man who gave his life for us The most just 20 years old, were there for us The hell on wheels couldn't be stopped by anyone What was it worth to you to throw away your life overhere For a small country you didn't even know of it's exsistance What was it worth to you fighting for other people When you didn't have to if it was up for mother to say When I look upon these rows of white crosses I realize what you have done for Limburg To chase away the enemy, you had to risk your life And couldnt go back to America 50 years we are free and all this time they are here They gave all they had to give In the early morning sun, lies here private Washington. I ask myselfe: Would I have done the same for you '? What was it worth to you to throw away your life overhere For a small country you didn't even know of it's exsistance What was it worth to you fighting for other people When you didn't have to if it was up for mother to say When I look upon these rows of white crosses I realize what you have done for Limburg To chase away the enemy, you had to risk your life And couldnt go back to America
