Son of WWII Nazi wants dad declared dead

    August 25, 2008, 7:37 am
A son of notorious Nazi doctor Aribert Heim was quoted as saying he wants his father declared legally dead so he can take control of his money and donate some of it to help document the suffering that occurred at a former concentration camp.
Ruediger Heim told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper his father - dubbed Dr Death and who leads the Simon Wiesenthal Centre's list of most-wanted suspected Nazi war criminals - should officially be declared missing and then dead.
He reiterated he has not had any contact with his father since he fled Germany in 1962, save two short notes in his family's mailbox.
"Between 1962 and 1967, two notes appeared in our mailbox. There was a single sentence written on them, 'I am doing fine.' But if those letters were really from my father, I do not know," the paper quoted him as saying.
Heim also said he has no idea if his father, who would be 94, is alive or dead.
He told the paper he is working with a lawyer to see how he can have his wanted father declared missing and then dead so as to get control of the man's bank account.
He said he, his brother and sister only discovered in 1997 that a bank account in his father's name existed. If he could get control of the money, he told the newspaper, he would donate to help document suffering in the Mauthausen concentration camp near Linz, Austria, where his father worked as camp doctor in October and November 1941.
So far, Heim's children have made no claim to a bank account with 1.2 million euros ($A2.04 million) and other investments in his name. To do that, they would have to produce proof that their father is dead.

I do not really believe in that “Samaritan” motivation forwarded by his son. AFAIK all accounts that lead to NAZI criminals are subjected to confiscation by the German and international courts.

    Hello Mortman2004,

From what I read so far, you rank as a Major and served with a Ranger unit, I for my part have been with the German Armed Forces for the past 26 years. Could it be that there is a very significant difference between our Armed Forces on behalf of an officer’s conduct? I do not think so, because so far I didn’t encounter that presently displayed behavior of yours amongst other US officers who rank as Majors or higher.

You constantly rant against anything that is in connection to the word German, all Germans seem to be NAZIS to you, is there any objectiveness left in you that would not be masterminded by your endless devotion to “your” principles of categorization?

Maybe for some reason you just can’t help it right now, but your recent posts are getting boring, repeating and meaningless and your displayed conduct (Posts like “I am out” or “shame…” doesn’t put honor to your flag your unit and yourself.

If you would actually read my above post more open-minded, you would understand that there are international laws in regards to bank accounts or valuables that are in connection with a NAZI criminal and as such there is no way for a “son” to get his hands on it and to manage it in whatever way he would like to.

I do hope that you do not interpret my lines to you as a personal attack, I do not have any intension in that direction, and I am looking forward to us meeting in this Forum on a normal basis and have some good discussions in the future.

    Regards
    Kruska

Children, children, PLEASE! Stop this bickering and attacking each other in threads! If you don't get along with some one, IGNORE THEM! Don't rise to the bait, do not respond to them or their comments. Its simple, really. No more bickering in this thread or you'll be spending some time in the Cooler. If you have an issue with another member, please send me a PM.

In regards to their claim, I think its totally bogus. "What? Dad has 1Million in a bank? WOW!" Sure, he might donate 100,000 of it, but then he did just make a 900,000 profit. Clearly he wants the money, the 'donation' just a way to make himself feel better about using Nazi-Money.

FIRST OF all dont discuss CONDUCT unbecoming an officer with me... DONT even TRY it... Im old school army and A PRIOR service NCO... IM not a perfumed prince manager. Im a WAR fighter and a leader of men.. Im loud gruff and Tactless.. But in a fight im damm good at what i do...

As far as your 26 years on the germen army it sure does not impress me much nor do i care one iota for your pro Nazi sympathies.. Fact is IF his son is willing to use his daddies ill gotten gains to help others IM ALL for it.... IM not open minded. I see the nazis as a regime of evil... and FYI my grandfather (NOT BY BLOOD BY MARRIAGE) was a germen ww1 vet.... So save your bs for someome who cares.... By the way ya ever see combat anyplace???? I doubt it... Too busy revieing conduct of officers tell ya what YA dont like my conduct PM me and ill give ya My COMMANDERS commercial and DSN numbers and you can whine to him... IM sure he will lend a sympathetic ear to your greivences against me LOL... OOPPPPS hes jewish LOL

Two things would have to be checked first before I allow myself a judgment on this matter. Firstly is there money on the bank account? Maybe it's post war account with only little money on it that was not closed when the man left. Secondly when was this account used for the last time? If one has money why not transfer it to another account? There should be a date of the last activity that would give useful indications and mention a place of a potential money transfer.
