The autobiography of Gregory "Pappy" Boyington

Has anyone read this? Is it worth picking up? I found a few online for really cheap and wondering if its a good book.

It's an absolutely great book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about the man. You can get a lot about his personality by reading the book. Another good one is "Black Sheep One" by Bruce Gamble - it gives some insight to his life with some details that he may not have wanted to put in his own book.

As a Marine pilot, it amazes me that it doesn't seem like there are different men from generation to generation - sometimes it seems like it's just the same men with different names.

Nice, I bet that is fun. There were a couple at the airshow in KC last year. I can't remember what squadron they were from though.

I read this book a long time ago and like Lippert says, it's a great book to read. My copy got lost years ago though.

PS, Boyingtons Son-in-Law either still is or was, the Admiral in charge of Naval Aviation Training and is/was stationed here where I live at N.S.A. Corpus Christi. I have met and talked with quite a few pilot-trainess, and they say he's a great officer to serve under. Also, I heard that he keep Pappy's original notes on his desk for referances.
