I am trying to research a polish soldier who served with the German army during WW2. The inscription on his identity discs is given as:

    STAMM.KP.PI (or) P1.ERS.BT2.4/2418

Can anyone tell me what this incription means please.

Also he was captured at DANGO. On his POW papers he gave his number of regiment as 149 and in the name of Company, Squadron,Battery box it has number 1.

Can anyone tell me what this unit was please as I can find no referance to the 149.

Any help would be gratfully appreciated.

    Thank you in advance
    Regards
    Brett

    Hi
Your dog tag doesn't seem to have belonged to the Polish P.O.W. The tag says

4TH STAFF COMPANY, PIONEER REPLACEMENT BATTALION 2
2418 - Is his Army number

    Hope this helps
    Cheers

    Thank you Graham,

On his service papers that is what was written on his dog tags when he was captured. Is there any reason why that would not be his dog tag?

    Hi Brett
He may well have changed units, and not yet have been given his new dog tag, it happened a lot during the war, particulary towards the end

    Cheers
    Graham
