I was happy to find these 2 fellows last week, one canteen + cover + an extra cover, both Imperial German and canteen dated 1915 with almost 100% paint.

and genuine, at last ......the previous ones I got were mostly fakes , the Koppleschloss market is so polluted that it's almost impossible to get a good one these days. They reason I got it is because the seller though it was English ( he saw the Crown and the word Gott = God) , so otherwise it would have been gone a long time ago.

the best way too find out if you a doubt is to go to the das koppelschloss website. They have buckles from the 19th century until 1945 there and they have many pictures with types and dates + a section for fakes and how not to fall in a trap.

Just arrived today from Alsace. This Bavarian Reservisten ashtray with mention "In Treue Fest". It's quite large and heavy (about 20cm x 12cm )and in perfect condition

and more today: a WWI prussian Koppelschloss + a Batlefield find from 1870 (found near my home) . It's the upper part of a buckle but my first 1870 relic.

That's precisely why I put them together. I currently can't affort a complete 1870 one, so i bought this for two other reasons. Firstly it's a local battlefield find and secondly it's great to have a genuine one to compare with others when I need authentification .

You are welcome Carl, I have a real weak spot for those buckles . They are hard to get , if genuine, but it's worth it, and when I get a winne rit really makes my day. I usaully make my expertise on the daskoppelschloss site
