Believe it or not, when this Forum was first started up and I joined, I was only 15! Now, many moons later, I am 23 and still kicking around this joint as an 'old timer'. :) Never too young to get interested in WWII.

What difference one generation makes. In junior high school we covered WWII. In the 8th grade we actually spent a whole sememster on it. Now it is barely touched on.
Creeper2ads-Just remember when you get to study WWII, there are a few WWII veterans here that have actual accounts. I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you. May be worth extra credit in class.

    Take care,
    Salty

We're in the same generation, Salty. You were not even in kindergarten yet when I was born.

I wished that I was the age you think I am. Those big numbers are creeping up on us.

I never actually got to study WWII even though I was in the advanced history classes in high school and a history major in college. By comparison, my sons will have a major WWII project when they are Sophomores in HS.

Of course, HS and college were 1980-88 for me so most of the focus was on Viet Nam in academic circles. That conflict I did get to study and it became a good contrast to WWII. Someday I need to dig into the Korean Conflict.

    13? I am 13 too! Several times 13, actually 4x :D

No problem with young people, most of my friends are young or were decades ago

Provided you will believe that there are other sources of knowledge, wisdom and thought than games or the Internet, I see no problem. May you thrive for many years (till you are older than me) in this fine Forum, and here's to future discussions!

Faster than I'd like them to.

Yes, I know we're of the same generation, I've seen your picture. Actually I wasn't refering to our generation, but my daughter's generation. WWII was part of my J.H.S American and World history courses. When my daughter was in the same grades, they barely touched on it except for a few dates, the atomic bombings, American Japanese internment camps and Hitler. A total of about five days out of a whole semester. I guess a lot has to do where one went to school, but I have faith in the next generation. I have to, they get to decide which old folks home I have to go to!:D

    Take care,
    Salty

I've always been interested in World War II. Most of the information I could find though was usually about the Americans or English. It has only been in recent years that I found more on the Canadians. It may be why you are seeing more of us on the Forum and being so vocal. We are catching up on the years where it wasn't discussed even in Canada. The history channel and a few of the other cable channels have had more documentaries and drama's that explain varioius battles or the stories of individuals.

As for me, my inspiration was there every day for much of my life and in these past 12 years (Dad) and 9 years (Mum) in my memories.

It does, in my area there is usually a month on it. At my school specifically we have a senior elective where WWII takes up about 1/6 of the school year.

Well, most Rogues here are older than you, but none are any younger, since 13 is the youngest you are allowed to be when you join here.

"We had to walk five miles to the public library uphill both ways in the snow."
