I have a Feldgendarmerie Gorget that's been passed down. There are photos of my grandmother's brother wearing his Nazi uniform, but none with this...but I've been told it was his. Is there anyway to verify that this is authentic? My grandparents settled in upstate New York and lived there while many of their family members were involved in WW2 in Germany...but they were known by many to communicate via letters, packages, etc during the war. I'll work on getting photos up....as you can see, I'm a newbie here but wanting to learn more about this piece. The chain is in tact, the item shows a little where, but it still glows rather well. Thank you in advance. Kathy
without looking at the pictures, it would be hard to tell. Gorgets were worn by military police as a sign of their position.
Here it is....scanned on the scanner. Trying to attach to message. Thanks again for your input. ~Kathy View attachment 4233
We have some guys here who can give you better info than I can. It is a good looking piece of hardware.
These Krauts were much more feared than the Feldgendarmerie:-From www.speedylook.com Quote "The Feldjagerkorps was a military unit of Police of the German armed during the Second world war. It was created on November 27th 1943 with experienced combatants, in particular resulting from the service of the patrols. This body was made up in three commands of the Feldjaeger (I, II and III) which returned account directly to the Field Marshall Keitel and were hierarchically located above the other units of military police force. Each Feldjagerkommandeur controlled a Bataillon Feldjaeger (FJ) (a Régiment starting from April 24th 1944) with five companies, made up each of thirty Officier S and eighty ten Sous-officier S. These companies were divided into thirty patrols, which were stationed twenty kilometers in backs of the frontlines. These patrols had the reputation to be very hard with the discipline, the application of the sorrows passing sometimes by summary executions. They were supported by the Streifkorps (body of the patrols) organized in sections of a higher warrant officer and nine troops. The "Feldjager" answered only to OKW and were tasked to hunt down deserters, arrest insubordinate soldiers, looters and malingerers, and search rear areas for any soldiers who were capable of front line service. The "Feldjager", were manned with battle experienced officers, NCO's and soldiers, and were given the power to arrest anyone who could not provide a satisfactory explanation for their absence from active duty. Through the use of fear backed up by the authority of the High Command of the German Armed Forces (ie "OKW") it was hoped that the "Feldjager" would provide the incentive for the German solider to stand and fight to the death. The commanders of "Feldjager" even had the authority to hold a drum-head court martial and execute the defendants on the spot!! The power of the Feldjager units most definitely came from the gun barrel Members of Feldjager units wore two items, a special "Feldjager" duty gorget and a red armband which distinguished them from ordinary Army or Waffen-SS troops. The gorget was worn in the same manner as the "Feldgendarmerie" gorget, whilst the armband was worn on the lower left cuff.". This is the unit(s) for which I have the gorget. Sgtleo
Try the Wehrmacht Awards Forum... Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums - Powered by vBulletin There will be someone on there who can help and they usually answer quite promptly. Try posting it in the Police & Civil Organisation section or the Wehrmacht Uniforms & Insignia section. I'm no expert but it looks rather good. The only noticible thing is the eagle looks just a bit large. The head overlaps the top of the gorget and the wing tips are very close to the scroll. All of the photos I have looked at do not show the eagle this large. Again, it could be a different manufacturer. sorry I could not be of more help. Do you have any photos of the back?
It's a good one. Easy to tell by the color of paint. Fakers have as yet to be able to fake that exact yellow. Im no expert either but, this one is a good one.
In case the authenticity is not yet confirmed I suggest asking from militariacollecting.com -site I have always got clear answers very quickly to any authenticity questions.
Hi Kai, mcf is a waste of time-unless you like diging all of their porno rubbish. ;-! which is one of the main reasons I and many others left.
